I would focus on employees and make it so they would want to stay. As it stands, we have a revolving door because they need to find a job that they can support themselves and a family

  • Due to Dollar Generals business model I’m not sure it can be changed. Dollar General has a flawed business model that puts excessive stress and stress on their front line employees. Front line employees such as myself are extremely over worked while being highly underpaid. I believe Dollar General CEO knows this, it’s that he or they just don’t care. The business model is geared to make money off the sweat of the poor’s back, so there is no way that they could possibly understand our troubles or concerns. Dollar General front line employees had to work on the holidays, I bet corporate didn’t. FLAWED BUSINESS MODEL

  • The managers and supervisor would need to understand and how so humanity and not be so focus on only giving the opportunities to the chosen employees they often missed employees that can do so much better than the ones they choose. Human relations need to focus more on the employee instead of other things, often the employees we don't know why human relation is there.

  • At the distribution center manager say they communicate with the CEO and they don't get answers from them that leaves the employees believe that corporations don't care

  • Beyond store level or DM experience

  • The CEO needs to take a good hard look at how the employees are treated at his stores, instead of only looking at the bottom dollar. It is fairly easy to get hired on at a Dollar General. However, there is many things that need to be improved. Learning to trust their employees instead of assuming everyone is a thief. Allowing stores enough hours to hire people to do a proper job without working them into the ground.

Well I applied online in the evening time and by the next day in the afternoon time I received an email saying congratulations welcome to the team and all my new hire paperwork was allready there to so I just filled it out and it said they would call me when my background check came back but now that did take almost 2 weeks but as soon as they got it back they called me and I started work that same day So it really just depends on when you apply and if they are hiring at that exact moment good luck

The days you're off you're stressed and worried trying to get things situated don't have the money and everything at home are bad and then you have to go in there and work and you are tired you're supposed to be jolly and happy it makes things rough then you have managers who don't care it's all about them or their little pets that they have

  • Very difficult

  • A social life does not exist as a Dollar General employee. You are continually called in even when you asked for a specific day off. If you refuse to go in, then you risk retaliation. If you report it, nothing happens.

It's very easy to get promoted to a key hoder, all you have to do is show up for work on time and actually work and just do as you are asked just like any normal job I only worked there for 2 weeks and they promoted me to a key holder with a nice raise on the hour and at my store as of right now everyone is atleast a key holder and it makes things alot easier on everyone. Now getting promoted to like an assistant manager you have to be a key holder first and allso been working there atleast 6 months. So as long as you go to work everyday as ur scheduled to,and just work and do your job the right way you can get promoted fairly easy

  • To get promoter at Dollar General you must be a brown nose be the head of the manager or supervisor otherwise they will do for any excuse to gift employee a warning so they no longer qualify for the position.

  • Show them your a valuable team 6and show up doing your job your on your way

At the distribution center, there is no such thing as flexibility in there you do or you don't most people lose their jobs because of the point system and a lot of dumb our parents or single parents and management supervisor don't get tired to say that that's how we work

  • I have a set time schedule but work different days each week. You just have to tell them what you want to work and they usally give that to you

  • It’s flexible when I have hours
