How much and how often do raises happen at Target?
Top Employee Response
Target team leader raise and got $1.34. Got highest raise and following year base pay bump happened so someone that got 60 cent raise basically gets paid the same as me. Target needs to understand this pisses a lot of veteran team leaders
Target gives a performance review and raise annually in April. From what I've seen this year (2020) they can range from .5% to 2% for hourly employees. That means if you were earning the company base income of $15, your raise would have been somewhere from 8-30 cents per hour.
Not sure what people are talking about with the annual review. I work at a target DC and our yearly review mean absolutely nothing. We haven’t had a raise in over 1.5 years

Most of our TL are very flexible and but few tend to have attendance problems setting a poor example and the ETL team never follows up.
Communicate to each other. They don't even send emails or nothing . We need to be aiming for the same goals together as a team
We don't have meetings. Everything is a big secret.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved at Target?
Top Employee Response
The instocks at our store are killing us, the TLs are the only sales floor coverage from 8am until 7pm creating difficulty fixing problems.
We are turning into Walmart and that needs to stop.
Need new leadership and allow the people that know what they are doing to do it. Don't stick a tl friend in the position

If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at Target?
Top Employee Response
Fire all DTL, ETL, and TL and hire caring leaders that actually LEAD and not micromanage or dictate the team
Have the people at corporate actually work at a store before making decisions about changes regarding job duties and procedures.
Stop hiring ETL's and STL's straight out of college, experience is more important than a degree. Stop cutting payroll in order to save money. You are nothing without your team members, treat them like they are the most important employees in your company, because they are. Make the integrity hotline useful, it has a reputation for not getting anything accomplished and not being anonymous.
How quickly are people promoted?
Top Employee Response
It's fairly easy to get promoted to team lead, above that it's who you know and how well they like you.
Promotions are very rare. For many positions the company prefers to hire from outside.
Depends, stores need to have people on what they call the bench ready to send to interviews as needed. They should have a few ready each year to look good on their part. Really depends on how many stores are in your area. Coming from the Austin TX area that has plenty of stores we typically had 4 a year going to interviews to be signed off and ready to put in position in stores in the area. I personally went from seasonal to GSA within a few months then to GSTL in about 2 years to SR-TL after holding about 4 different TL positions. But I do agree many times it's all about how much you kiss up to people. I was always told you can't get ETL without a degree but knew people without a degree who got promoted over those who had a degree. Simply because they were friends more with HR, also helps to look like Ken and Barbie. I had an old really hard working SR-TL leave because she was tired of being told she didn't dress the part even though she had a bachelor's degree.
What's the office vibe like at Target?
Most are very clickey
The vibe changes from day to day, depending on how busy the store is. Some days are good, some days are too much.
Very bad
How secure do you feel at your job at Target?
Top Employee Response
Not secured at all, because they are no guarantees in the field of retail. Plus you’re not guaranteed hours, 40 at max, unless you’re a leader, which isn’t fair.
There is NO job security. They string you along for loyalty and do not reward you for it. They expect everything, give nothing
Everyone is replacable
