Mr. Theodore E. Guth, also known as Ted, J.D., serves as a Senior Advisor of Douglas Emmett Inc. Mr. Guth served as the Chief Financial Officer of Douglas Emmett, Inc. since January 1, 2012. Mr. Guth served as the Principal Accounting Officer of Douglas Emmett, Inc. until May 15, 2015. He served as the Principal Accounting Officer and Executive Vice President of Douglas Emmett, Inc., since March 3, 2011 and January 4, 2011 respectively and also as Secretary. Prior to joining Douglas Emmett in January 2011, Mr. Guth was a Partner at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP, where he served as Electro Rent's outside legal counsel. His practice focused on business, corporate and securities matters, including: buying and selling businesses, wherein he completed scores of transactions representing buyers, sellers, investment bankers and financiers through all phases of the process, including negotiation, structuring, due diligence, financing and documentation; capital formation, wherein Mr. Guth manages all aspects of capital raising for his clients, from ???angel rounds??? to IPOs. From 1993 to 1995, he served as teh President of Dabney/Resnick, Inc. (now Imperial Capital). He founded Guth Christopher LLP, in 1997 and served as its Partner. He served as a Partner at the law firm of Irell & Manella LLP, from 1985 to 1993 and from 1995 to 1997 and which Mr. Guth joined in 1978. He was a Head of Corporate Securities Group. Over thirty years, he has held a variety of legal and executive positions, including as a law firm Partner and Manager, as the President of a boutique investment banking firm. He served as a Director of Electro Rent Corporation since January 2011 until August 10, 2016. He served as a Director of Learning Tree International Inc. since March 1999. He was a full time Professor at the University of California-Los Angeles School of Law from 1981 to 1983, where he taught courses in constitutional law, civil procedure and judicial process. Mr. Guth has annually been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America for over a decade and as a ???Super Lawyer?????? since 2004. He is also awarded ???The Best Lawyers in America???, annually from 1998 till date. He has written and spoken extensively about issues relating to selling business, drafting agreements, strategic partnering/joint ventures and other topics. He co-authored ???Drafting Agreements for the Sale of Businesses,??? California Bar Association, in 1988; wrote ???Building Technology and New Media Alliances,??? in January 1997; and also wrote ???Through the Kaleidoscope: Negotiating Multimedia Development Agreements,??? in November 1996. Mr. Guth received a B.S. summa cum laude, in 1975 from University of Notre Dame and a J.D. in 1978 from Yale Law School.
