After Extreme Networks experienced three separate power outages during the summer of 2018, company leadership began a detailed review of our energy systems and consumption. By asking tough questions and speaking with other industry leaders, they arrived at the Bloom Energy Fuel Cell Solution.
Extreme selected Bloom Energy’s fuel cells as a reliable, low-cost, and sustainable power solution. The fuel cells are configured to operate as a microgrid. Microgrids generally operate in parallel or independent of an electric grid. The Extreme’s configuration does both. It provides an uninterruptible electricity supply to critical engineering and IT equipment. Furthermore, it operates parallel to the grid to lower the overall company’s power consumption by over 2.2 MW. This drastically reduces our company carbon footprint.
