I could definitely leave and make more money in cash compensation. That's part of the story. The health benefits are also nothing to write home about. More robust health insurance and pay commensurate with experience would make me feel better. Degrees can be useful, but so can experience.
GE Aviation does not pay competitive wages based on geographic location. Wages are set by national averages and/or the greater Cincinnati area (headquarters location).
