It has been a challenge. I am on my 4th manager and we have had a lot of turnover in our department. My workload is challenging and I do not have a path to advance my position to a higher level. As such, I have been close to looking for other positions. But the mission and people keep me gong.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Everyone is very mission-driven. This makes a world of difference during the more challenging periods.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
For both EG and SEG, I feel like those I know respect me as a person, even though they may not quite understand my position). Everyone is friendly and approachable.
What makes you most happy at work?
My co-workers, a sense of shared mission, a variety in my work...and seeing my work makes a difference in how GCT fulfills its mission. Hearing individual success stories is moving.
What are some of the best things about your team?
We support each other as people and because we are all experienced, we can be somewhat flexible about who takes on projects. Not always, we are each subject matter experts in specific areas, but often enough that we can function as a strong and cohesive team.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
To be clear, I don't feel undervalued by my manager (she is working with HR) and many EG have helped to increase my compensation. Yet, I still do not have an up-to-date job description that reflects the additional duties I have taken on over the years. Thus, I get paid less than my industry peers.
