How does HCLTech make decisions around promotions?
Promotion and pay, everything coming from an approved budget which is always around 10 or less percentage. Even if your project is high earner, they split your team internally and allocate money to cover the split. So, to get your CTC linked variable, its hard for everyone. Never expect anything from Management.

It was a bit messed up for me, I had problemes uploading documents, and no one knew to tell me to use Chrome, the error lasted a week.

Mostly paid program called TSS with pay of around 3-4 lacs and 6 months intern ship. Lucky if you happens to be in Chennai. You may get fresher jobs.

HCL has poor leadership skills. Managers have no training on how to lead their staff. Employees are managed through making demands with little to no support.
What's the IT team like at HCLTech?
HCL is a global team. This corporate structure comes with some cultural headaches. I have not encountered any team member I have worked with that I would grade as an 'A' regarding their technical skills. I have worked with 'A' level skilled associates at other firms but they seem to be absent from this environment.
What's the vibe like in the IT dept at HCLTech? How many hours are you working?
HCL does not treat onsite teams with respect. The culture is an old-world style top-down oligarchy. Onsite teams are regarded as non-professional staff who are expected to rescue the mistakes of offshore system administration teams and take the blame. If you are not prepared to handle the pressure then expect to be crushed under the weight of a corporate system that makes little sense. Work hours are decent with little outside of 9-5 expectations. HCL has the BEST insurance options in the industry!
