What's the interview process like at IFF?

This varies by department. Usually it is the hiring manager, an HR Business Partner and another party (a peer, another manager)
It's like other companies do. Nothing special.
How much diversity is there among employees at IFF?
Lots of different nationalities and people from different backgrounds
IFF is very diverse. I always feel like our meetings are like the United Nations. At any given time, I have 3 or 4 nationalities and ethnicities at one meeting!
By numbers, women are 30% of the population. It's still normal considering 60% our employees are in manufacturing.
How challenged are you at IFF?
Lots. Managers trust and empowers us
Very. Change causes you to be on your toes and ready for anything!
I would rate normal challenged. It depends on ourselves. There are rooms to have own initiatives.
How's the work pace at IFF?
Fast. Entrepreneurial
Very fast. We move!
It's still normal because we serve the business. Not as fast as consumer goods.
Who did you meet with during your interview? And how long did it take to hear back from IFF?
Managers. Weeks
I met with both managers I would be supporting. I heard back from them with an offer one week later.
Regional HR Manager, Finance Controller, Managing Director. It took around a month to hear back.
How would you compare interviewing at IFF to other places you've interviewed?
Involves meeting more people
There are common questions. Culture fit is more important than others. Probably because i am an HR.
Interviews at IFF will be tailored for each different open position and each interviewer will cover the skills, experiences and competences relevant for that role.
What's the office layout like at IFF?
Open. Great pantry

How innovative is IFF?
Very innovative and creative. Our customers' rely on us to bring them innovations for their consumer products. We've been doing this for 130 years so not to brag, we are a creative bunch and deliver innovations year over year.

although it's a hard working office, since I love my job, I am okay and excited

We dont know, fairly I hope
I have no idea. Quite anxious though and waiting to see. Now that IFF has merged with Frutarom

Strong one
Interns have the opportunity to work and learn with the team and many were offered permanent employment after their studies.
How helpful was your HR team when you were first hired at IFF?
very good - very helpful

What kind of interview questions do they ask when hiring someone in the HR department at IFF?
Basic questions and asked for examples of work situations.
HR team is extremelly professional, at least in Brazil, and they always do a interview based on competencies questions.
What benefits does IFF provide?

Medical for me and my children, Pension, Car/Transport with running costs, handheld with phone bills, company outing, additional annual leaves on top of statutory.
How secure do you feel at your job at IFF?
Very secure but I do know change is always happening so I am prepared that I may need to move on at some point.
I am very secure except if I am under performer.
What part of IFF's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
Flavors. Flavors has been booming. Fine fragrance has struggled due to changing consumer needs and desires.
Beverage is growing fastest. Difficulties in Savory and Fragrances business.
What's the best part of your job at IFF?
I can make a difference. I can impact people every day and it feels good!

What are the team outings like at IFF?
We have an annual softball tournament which is a blast and we have holiday celebrations. Each site also has different employee appreciate events as well.
Going somewhere out of town for 3 days and 2 nights.
What questions do they ask during the interview process at IFF?
They asked situational based questions that were tough to answer! But they make you dig deep and think about your skills and experience in a different context.
This is entirely role dependent and will be tailored based on the skills, experiences and competences required for that particular role.
How hard is it to get promoted at IFF?
For strong performers, promotions are easy.
How are the career growth opportunities on the Design team at IFF?
You need to seek career growth opportunities on your own unless of course you have a supportive manager
What is the hardest interview question IFF asks?
I can't think of anything in particular, but the interview process is rigorous, different folks have a say, and it's about expertise, why you and not someone one, and culture fit.

we are a food company - it is not allowed
How are the career growth opportunities on the HR team at IFF?
Many of the most senior HR leaders at IFF have built their careers at the company rotating though a number of different roles and in many cases international assignments. I would say career growth opportunities are very good if you are flexible and mobile given how international IFF is.
