The only reason I stayed is because I'm needed by my recipients. Literally, some of these people do not have anyone to take care of them and the state isn't doing anything to help besides this poorly funded program.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
It depends on who your recipient is. There is no specific culture at IHSS.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Caregiving is an important job but it is horribly compensated and most people wouldn't do it because the pay is horrible
What do you like best about the leadership team?
There is no real leadership when you work for IHSS. The local union, SEIU, tries but fails to do anything for IHSS workers.
What did you like most about the interview process?
There was no interview process. They just check to see if you have any offenses or convictions. There is only one orientation where they tell you about the program, how to fill out your time sheet, and they give you a form so that you can get a Livescan.
