Executive Bio

Brian J. Stief joined Johnson Controls in July 2010 as vice president, corporate controller, responsible for global finance functions, financial planning and analysis, and corporate taxation. He was appointed executive vice president and chief financial officer in 2014. He is also a member of the Johnson Controls Executive Operating Team and Executive Leadership Team.

Before joining Johnson Controls, Stief worked at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, joining the firm in 1979, becoming a partner in 1989. During his career there, he served many of the firm's largest clients, primarily publicly-held multinational manufacturers.

Stief earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and accounting from the University of Iowa.

Stief has been very active in the Milwaukee community over the years, serving on the board of directors of the United Performing Arts Fund, Junior Achievement, U.S. Bank Championship and the Greater Milwaukee Committee.
