How hard is it to get promoted at Kantata?
Hard working, talented, engaged people get promoted. If anything, I think Mavenlink might promote a little too frequently. We are just putting practices in place to look at scope of jobs and career development paths that create transparency about future opportunities. If you want to grow your career, this is the place to do it.
What is the PTO policy at Kantata?
It is excellent. You get 15 days your first year PLUS extra days for wellness and sick time off. Before the pandemic we only had 1 PTO bucket and you had to use vacation days if you were sick. The CEO is very focused on a lifestyle of wellness and expanded the offering this year to give the additional sick and wellness time, without reducing the original PTO bucket. It is a very generous and flexible policy that includes paid parental leave, bereavement, and volunteer time off. Plus we give off time for covid related (sickness, caring for others, vaccination/recovery), even when the government stopped providing tax credits with the emergency assistance, Mavenlink continued this practice. This company truly does care about its people.
How does Kantata measure success and growth in the HR department?
What it means to be successful varies by individual and we take that into account. Our team completed the strength finders assessment and we ensure that Mavens in HR get to use their strengths on a daily basis. We are constantly re-evaluating what great looks like, assessing our internal client needs and adjusting work assignments to fit HR team member career interests/growth and defining what the business needs. It is a special place.
How does Kantata handle HR issues?
With care...our leaders are equipped with essential HR 101 knowledge (taught in our Manager Series, Manager 101: Fundamentals) that improves the HR IQ of all Maven leaders. The tone from the top in HR is supportive, welcoming and while they command respect, the vibe is very much about a partnership and demonstrating kindness. The perfect blend of strength and warmth.
How are layoffs handled in the HR department at Kantata?
We don't have layoffs. We take resource optimization as an internal mantra (not just a product capabiity)...our company is great about redeploying people and one big surprise for me was how much leadership asks about what you 'want to do' and about personal preferences. At Mavenlink you can change careers without changing companies...there is plenty to do and so much to learn and contribute.
What kind of activities do employees at Kantata participate in outside of work?
Mavenlink employees are very socially active, with our MavenLife umbrella we are ingrained in our local communities, and truly have a servant's heart as a culture. Our employees are focused on mental and physical wellbeing and it is easy to find a friend to walk with during 1:1s or volunteer together or join discussion groups to be a force for good in our neighborhoods.
What is the best advice you could give someone during their first month at Kantata?
Ask a lot of questions, meet as many people as you can (the Maven population is a brilliant bunch so eager and willing to share their knowledge) and jump right in...this is truly an ALL IN culture!
