What are your coworkers at Layer like?
They’re awesome. The best part of the company.
I like my coworkers
Sales team are collaborative, positive and hard working
What are the team outings like at Layer?
cutting corners on team outings to save a few dollars here and there makes it feel like the company is not invested in employee happiness. I understand that we have tight budgets for these events, but these events are opportunities to get employees excited about the company and we seem to be missing that.
Infrequent, but needed and fun.
fun! but need bigger drink budgets. Budget was too low for the Spark SF event in late October.
What do people at Layer think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
CEO is very passionate and has great vision. Confident in their ability to get us where we need to be. They could benefit from being a bit more personable and share more about things outside of work.
Amazing visionary with unparalleled drive.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at Layer?
more fun environment. make it a place where people get their work done, and work hard, but have fun doing it. better work-life balance. encourage employees to use the time off so they can come back and grind without being overworked or burned out. trust reps to be able to work from home more and still get things done.
Invest in people/culture. Expressing care and concern (in the form of surveys) is a great first step. Next comes taking action to create a better culture - encouraging energetic sales culture, more team events, etc
What part of Layer's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
I'm amazed how fast we have been able to sell larger, enterprise deals once we set that course. The product needs to catch up to the vision to make sure we are delivering on what we sold
Sales has grown fast. Presales (marketing) and post sales (customer success, onboarding, service/support) need to catch up.

Diluted to lowest common denominator, which means sales and engineering cultures are watered/muddied down to a vibe that is neither conducive to a high performing sales or engineering environment.

tech on one side everything else on the other
One room. Culture needs to be diluted to lowest common denominator that does not inspire energy. Moreover, facilities are horrendous. Between heat/cold, bathrooms with loose seats, no seat covers, that open directly to the office floor/kitchen, very uncomfortable. Not enough conference rooms.
