Mr. J. L. Osei Mevs has been the Chief of Staff at LifePoint Health, Inc. since January 19, 2016. Mr. Mevs provides leadership for projects that cross multiple disciplines in the organization, served as a pivotal point of contact with key internal and external stakeholders, and assist Carpenter in continuing to build and strengthen its culture. Mr. Mevs has more than 15 years of experience in public policy and legislative strategy, regulatory research and analysis, government relations, business development and community outreach. He served as director of government relations for LifePoint Health. Mr. Mevs served as Vice President of External Affairs and Business Development at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE), as well as a Fellow of the Nashville Health Care Council. Mr. Mevs also is actively involved with Leadership Health Care, the Association of Minority Health Professional Schools, Trinity Pawling School and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Tennessee Chapter. Mr. Mevs earned a master's degree in public health/health policy and management from Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health in New York, N.Y., and a bachelor's degree in psychology from New York University in New York, N.Y.
