John T. Harper — Chief Stores Officer at Macy's

Mr. John T. Harper has been Chief Stores Officer of Macy's Inc. since September 2017. Mr. Harper served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Macy's Home Store, a Home Store Division of Macy's Inc. in New York since August 6, 2007 until September 2017. Mr. Harper served as Senior Vice President of Finance for May Department Stores Company since 2001. He joined May Department Stores Co. in 1983 as an Analyst in Accounting at Kaufmann's in Pittsburgh. Since 1991, he served as Vice President and Controller at L.S. Ayres in Indianapolis and Divisional Vice President and Controller of Famous-Barr since 1992. He joined Hecht's, May's department store division headquartered in Washington D.C., in 1993 as Vice President and Controller and was named Senior Vice President of operations in 1998. He served as Chairman of Hechts/Strawbridge for May Department Stores Co since June 2004. He has been Vice Chairman and Director of Stores of Macy's Midwest in St. Louis for Federated Department Stores Inc. since February 1, 2006. He served as a Director of Hechts/Strawbridge for May Department Stores Co. He received a B.A. degree in both Political Science and Communications , as well as an M.B.A. in Finance, from the University of Pittsburgh.
