Workers need to work & not gossip & point fingers. That behavior is toxic and I care nothing for it
I work in a small store that is falling apart. The air conditioning doesn't work in our department.
Not very family oriented when it comes to their employees. Different manager means different rules.

I'm 18yrs old and have no experience in retail what so ever (this is my first job) and they're starting me off with $15.00 a hr (or at least that's what they told me) my position is colleague selling/ retail sales associate
I have been there 6 years. I make the new minimum wage. Our union negotiated for us to get more money, or I think we would get paid the same as the new people coming in. I now make 12.65 an hour.
In Texas you start off at $9.00 hr. You can look forward to a 15 cent raise every year.
How difficult is it to maintain a social life while in your job at Macy's?
It's not considered social life. I work with charities to raise money. For Veterans Affairs and Children's Youth Service's.
You can have flexibility
very difficult......balance of personal and professional sometimes does not exist. Macys says this, but they do not mean it

The everything "rolls downhill" culture needs to change. When your employees don't want to be there neither will your customers.

They give you vaca after a certain period. There are times you cannot take it depending on your department.
No vacations during thanksgiving or Christmas season. You accrue time yearly.
The vacation time is fine but you'll never get approval to take the time off and you will lose all of your time.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at Macy's?

Promote the right people who know the job
Management must have more people and social skills.
If you hire someone to work, they shouldn't come to work to eat breakfast and lunch and screwoff all day long by playing with their IPod and listening to music all shift long.
How's the work pace at Macy's?
If they would concentrate on work instead of music and eating we would get a lot more done.

once a year and what a joke to tell a mom of two she is getting a 10 cent hour raise...you should not only be ashamed but embarrassed of such a slap in the face. pay people a living wage

Positive changes in mosaic environment ( any employee's voice heard immediately)
Within the store, the staff are generally supportive of each other's effort, even when communications break down.
The Macy's store that I work at is visually appealing to me, and meeting people; other associates and customers.

The people that succeed at Macy’s are the ones that can say yes and follow exactly what is asked to be done even if it’s the dumbest thing you have ever heard. If you can be thrilled to do whatever they tell you to do them you will succeed.
How's the morale at Macy's?
They can't wait to smoke cigarettes and talk about you behind your back.
They don’t care unless you’re not bothering them
Macy’s is one of the highest leading department store the people here are wonderful and very helpful . Good leadership and good with people.
