Business casual, mostly. If you work in suits or dresses, you dress more fancy, but in regular areas, a dress shirt and pants work fine, or for women, a dress or dress pants and a nice top. Only athletics and jeans areas can wear jeans.

The employee discount is 20% which you get after all discounts are applied. We also get Macy's money when we open new charge cards, or if we do something the manager rewards you for.

Mostly it involves how many charge cards you open, and how often you stand at the register. If you are someone who likes to clean the area around your register, or actually talk to customers, it doesn't help your numbers. It basically helps whoever is at the register.

No
Some people can. It is difficult to get two days in a row off.
Until the Christmas holidays come around, then they demand your full attention. Days, nights ,weekends sometime 's even overnight depending on the work load.
How common is it to switch departments or teams at Macy's?
Never on your own accors. They will pigeon hole you. You want to switch departments, they won't let you. But they have no problem switching you multiple times per year (in IT) and wonder why no one can be productive.

Yes. There are few positions to be promoted to, and often it goes to people who are willing to tow the company line, good or bad.

They are very minimum, though I am grateful they exist at all. 1000 total benefits on the high end plan. That includes the cost of your cleanings and fillings, etc.

Bad
We have a good vision plan. We also have special discounts at Lens Crafters. I was able to get two pairs of glasses this year, and an eye exam.

Charity work
There are a few of us that foster animals, some of us raise money for charitable organizations and churches. I'm a firefighter and ambulance attended.

I went in running, didn't have time to think.
The training is watching a lot of videos. A day on the floor for 4 hrs. And then you are on your own. The worst training I have ever had.

All the time. Lots of turnover

Never. You only get a promotion if you apply for a new position. If you don't get it, you may not have your old position any more.

Yes, one thing I find great about working for Macy's is the diversity of each team.
does mgmt do a good job in keeping employees?
Usually people stay here because they've gotten complacent and can't work any where else. Anyone who can leave does.
There are many long time employees at Macy's. Many are throw backs to when Macy's offered a pension plan and up to six weeks vacation.
No , our store had a revolving door on it for employees. Show/no show, okay to be late. Finally she just gave up.
