How flexible is your work schedule at Macy's?
Really flexible, I only work 4 hours a week.
I get little or no hours. So, days it cost me more to drive to work than I earn in a week.
What kind of relocation or moving stipends does Macy's offer?
Executive
I don't know, they usually just let most employees go when a store closes. Or you need to apply at another store when a job opens up.

Dogs are welcome
No pets allowed in the workplace unless the animal is a service animal.

How are layoffs handled in the Executive department at Macy's?
The layoffs are handled by a conference call. Even your supervisor is surprised. No one to talk to. Left in the dark until someone gets to you through e mail. Very uncomfortable.
the layoffs are handled professionally. somewhat secretively...I disliked the unknown part had no experience first time for me. the HR director left before me and AST was away along with store mgr, did not know what questions to ask. got through it but handled it myself. 29yrs with company wiped away. a little bitter.
How does Macy's measure success and growth in the Executive department?
sales performance along with customer service score for store. the company can spin anything and it work against employees it does not matter if they want to get rid of you they will find a way!

leadership is excellent.
You don't see much leadership on our Operations team.
What do you wish you knew before starting at Macy's?
Favoritism plays a huge part. If you open credits, bring in repetitive clientele, and hit your sales above average; you can get away with bullying your coworkers.

It's supposed to be someone who dresses properly for work and is on time. Follow's the rules but that doesn't happen much anymore.

I was told to pull plastic and left on my own.

Our healthcare plan is very high deductible, and expensive. It's not really worth the expense.

Any problems with work weekends and holidays.

It's retail, and I started on the dock and ended up back on the dock after being laid-off.

New ideas are always encouraged, but rarely implemented.
