Mr. William L. Hawthorne III serves as Senior Vice President, Diversity Strategies & Legal Affairs at Macy's, Inc. Mr. Hawthrone served as Vice President of Diversity Strategies & Legal Affairs at Macy's, Inc. He served as Chief Diversity Officer and Chief Legal Affairs and Vice President of Macy's, Inc.(formerly Federated Department Stores, Inc.) Mr. Hawthorne served as Vice President of diversity and Deputy General Counsel of Macy's, Inc. since May 20, 2003. Mr. Hawthorne served as Divisional Vice President and Assistant General Counsel in Macy's, Inc.'s regional law department in Atlanta since 1996 and was responsible for corporatewide diversity initiatives including employment, organizational development, work environment, minority vendor relationships, purchasing and business development. As Deputy General Counsel, he maintains responsibility for major legal practice areas at Macy. Mr. Hawthorne Started his career in private practice before moving to the public sector as a trial lawyer for the City of Atlanta and the Fulton County District Attorneys Office from 1985 to 1990. Mr. Hawthorne joined Federated in 1990 and has held positions of increasing responsibility in its law department since that time. Mr. Hawthorne is a 1981 graduate of Morehouse College. He received his law degree from Emory University in 1984. He is A native of Ohio.
