Executive Bio

Mr. Richard Dickson has been the President and Chief Operating Officer of Mattel, Inc. since January 13, 2015 and April 2, 2015 respectively. Mr. Dickson served as the Chief Brands Officer of Mattel, Inc. since May 2014 until April 2, 2015. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Branded Businesses at The Jones Group Inc. since February 8, 2010. He served as the President of Jones Apparel Group Inc. since February 8, 2010. He served as General Manager and Senior Vice President of Mattel, Inc. since August 2008 until February 2010 and since 2000 until 2008 respectively. He revitalized the 50-year-old, iconic brand and drove an epic turnaround for its business, which spans toys, entertainment, digital/online, retail and more than 45 different consumer products categories worldwide. He revitalized the brand through a new brand identity, innovative product, designer collaborations, break-frame marketing, global events and retail development, including the brand's first-ever award winning flagship store in Shanghai. He served as Senior Vice President of Marketing, Media & Entertainment Worldwide at Mattel Brands, where he was responsible for driving the growth of Mattel Brands outside of the toy aisle. During this time, he forged long-term deals with Hollywood heavyweights CAA and Universal Studios Home Entertainment and grew toy brands such as Hot Wheels and Fisher-Price into lifestyle brands. Prior to joining Mattel in 2000, he was employed at Bloomingdales for more than ten years in a variety of positions before launching Gloss.com. He served as Vice President of Brand Management and Merchandising for Estee Lauder Companies new online business. He has significant leadership, general management and merchandising experience working for major brands with global recognition, including Mattel Inc., Bloomingdales and Estee Lauder Companies. He serves as Member of The Board of Advisors at Thinaire Transmedia Network, Inc. Mr. Dickson holds an Extended Executive Education certificate from UCLA, Anderson School of Business and a BS in Consumer Economics from the University of Maryland.
