Edward S. Knight — Executive VP & General Counsel at Nasdaq

Mr. Edward S. Knight, also known as, Ed, has been an Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Nasdaq, Inc. (formerly, Nasdaq Stock Market Inc.) since October 2000 and served as its Chief Regulatory Officer since January 2006 until June 23, 2017. He served as a General Counsel of NASDAQ Global Funds Inc. sponsor of PowerShares QQQ Trust Series 1 (formerly, NASDAQ 100 Trust Series 1) since January 2006 (formerly, NASDAQ Financial Products Services Inc.) the President and Chief Legal Officer of the NASD/FINRA from July 1999 to October 2000. Mr. Knight served as Executive Vice Officer of Nasdaq since January 2006. Prior to joining the NASD, Mr. Knight served as General Counsel of the U.S. Department of the Treasury from September 1994 to June 1999. served as Executive Secretary and Senior Advisor to Secretary of the Treasury Lloyd Bentsen. He was a Partner with the law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer and Feld in its Washington, D.C., office. He has been a Director of NASDAQ Dubai Limited since June 14, 2010. He serves as a Director of NASDAQ Global Funds Inc. He serves on the law school's Alumni Board of Directors. He is a Member of the District of Columbia, Texas and Supreme Court Bars and the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Knight served as a Member of the Obama Transition Team at the U.S. Treasury Department. He received from Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin the Alexander Hamilton Award, the Department's highest award, for exemplary service to the Department and also received the Honor Award from the Secret Service from U.S. Department. He received holds BA degree with honors in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and his JD from the University of Texas School of Law.
