It varies quite a bit by group. My group has high morale, others not so much.
What's the vibe like in the Engineering dept at Nasdaq? How many hours are you working?
Depends on your manager. In my group we keep the overtime to a minimum. My manager is good at not asking for overtime unless it’s really necessary.
What's the Engineering team like at Nasdaq?
Generally one of the most competent group of people I’ve worked with. Naturally it depends on exactly which group you work with. The team in Lakewood is excellent.
How's the leadership on the Engineering team at Nasdaq?
It really depends on your direct manager. There are winners and losers in any organization this size.

Base pay is competitive, but the real advantage is the annual stock grants and bonuses. After 4 years you have four grants vesting and can make some serious cash.

Not clearly defined. Little accountability for not doing dimensionality reduction. Lots of custom/independent instances of the same product.

Several. Really depends on the hiring manager and the need for coverage in your time zone.
How does Nasdaq make decisions around promotions?
Annual and mid-year promotions. You get a promotion to reflect that you’re doing the job above your current level. Has to be balanced across the team, as only a limited amount of money is available for promotions each year.
How's the vacation policy at Nasdaq?
Good, but not fantastic. 4 weeks at 5 years, 4.5 weeks at 10 years.
How's the work life balance at Nasdaq?
It depends on your manager. Some managers demand lots of hours, some respect work life balance. And even then, it depends on where you are in a project. Crunch time exists across all companies. :)
