Executive Bio

Mr. John C. Shay has been Global Head of Fixed Income & Commodities and Senior Vice President of Nasdaq, Inc. since October 11, 2016. Mr. Shay is responsible for leading the global commodities and fixed-income areas within Nasdaq's Global Trading and Market Services business. He joins Nasdaq with more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Mr. Shay served as Senior Vice President of Global Markets at Virtu Financial, Inc. and also served its Senior Vice President for Transaction and Technology Services. Mr. Shay involved with the Virtu family of businesses since 2007. He was responsible for managing all outside venue, vendor and trading relationships, including all Prime and FCM counterparties as well as all Exchange, ECN and ATS relationships with a focus on Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities at Virtu Financial, Inc. Previously, he founded IDCG and served as its Chief Marketing Officer. He was responsible for overseeing all Sales efforts within IDCG; such as managing all buy-side, sell-side and clearing member relationships. He was a frequent representative for IDCG at industry conferences. Mr. Shay was a Founder and Managing Partner of Capital Market Services Inc. Previously, he spent almost 25 years managing various businesses for ICAP. From 2003 to 2007, he served as Executive Vice President and Global Head of Sales at ICAP Electronic Broking (IEB) for Fixed Income and Foreign Exchange. He was critical in creating strategic partnerships in China, Hong Kong, Japan, South America and the EU. He worked to integrate the Brokertec business and to drive market share in U.S. Treasuries, Mortgage Backed Products and Repo. He was critical in integrating global sales efforts with the EBS, concentrating in Spot Fx, Fwd FX, Emerging Market FX and Precious Metals. He has been a Director of LCH Group Holdings Limited (previously LCH. Clearnet Group Ltd.) since May 2017. Mr. Shay earned an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School, Columbia University and a B.B.A. from Pace University's Lubin School of Business graduating magna cum laude.
