They have all been in my shoes, some forget what it was like when they're coaching you in the moment, but overall the empathy is genuine, and the pushing is from the heart.

Leadership provides helpful training and feedback. The communication within the team is phenomenal, then they communicate with the Advisors right away clearly. They are really helpful and care a lot about the success of the Advisors and staff.

You are just a number to Northwestern Mutual. They use their employees contacts such as friends and family with a high net worth as their own prey for overpriced life insurance.

We constantly hear how we employees need to feel absorb the push to reduce expenses by giving up benefits we had already earned! But nary a word on how senior leadership’s benefits have been cut. Tough to take

I am paid for the work I do, not necessarily the work (or lack of) by others at NM.

The pension plan and bonuses. There are multiple bonuses for my job and Northwestern Mutual offers a great pension plan. Our advisors have an unlimited income potential, while Northwestern Mutual compensates staff above market value for our roles.

The annual bonus is always a nice addition to my regular yearly compensation.

Commission only with little training about their products.

It would be nice if every change didn’t make my benefits package worse. We were told that we shouldn’t compare our monetary reward with our competitors, but to look at the whole package. Guess what - we still lag in pay

Everyone here has the same goal of providing clients with the best possible care. Its a hard working fast paced environment that helps keep everyone productive. Our office does an office activity every month for team building and fun way to get to know each other. We play sports and explore our city

People are very open and happy to network. The culture focuses heavily on building relationships with people throughout the organization.

It's a long process but after starting here, it makes sense. The fallout in our industry is really high so they make sure to bring in the right candidates. They are very thorough and selective to make sure their incoming Advisors are successful.

Interviewing with people at various levels - my future manager and their boss, as well as interacting directly with future teammates to get a feel for the team dynamic.
