Not treating people like robots
You are just a number to Northwestern Mutual. They use their employees contacts such as friends and family with a high net worth as their own prey for overpriced life insurance.
We constantly hear how we employees need to feel absorb the push to reduce expenses by giving up benefits we had already earned! But nary a word on how senior leadership’s benefits have been cut. Tough to take

Quit squeezing the unions with temp employees. Quit shipping jobs overseas.
Review from IT Dept
Commission only with little training about their products.
It would be nice if every change didn’t make my benefits package worse. We were told that we shouldn’t compare our monetary reward with our competitors, but to look at the whole package. Guess what - we still lag in pay
Review from Finance Dept
Need better salary increases, need to have incentive if you do good work. Its more about your political connections.
Review from IT Dept
The company takes tax breaks from the city while shipping high paying jobs overseas. Greedy company, squeezes unions and pretends to care.
Review from IT Dept
NM has rested on its laurels of job security for too long as a reason for underpaying, if they want top talent, it will cost them.
Review from Engineering Dept
They usually just keep to themselves it’s a very eye for an eye environment.
Co-workers are fine, but most of my peer group was laid off or were forced to retire.
Review from Finance Dept
too much group think and not enough individual problem solving and critical thinking skills
A better pay structure with a minimum salary.
They give you the illusion that you can get hired in. You will not. They don't want to provide benefits or decent pay.
Review from IT Dept
Low compensation and terrible training.
I'd like to see morale to improve, as well as commitment to working hard
