Mr. Douglas A. Michels, also known as Doug, has been the Chief Executive Officer and President of Orasure Technologies, Inc. since joining on June 23, 2004. Mr. Michels has more than twenty-three years of experience in the medical device, diagnostics and managed care industries, primarily with the Johnson & Johnson family of companies. He served as Group Vice President of Global Marketing of Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics Inc. Mr. Michels served as the President of Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics International Inc. He served as President of Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Systems, Inc. He served as Vice President Sales & Marketing of Johnson & Johnson Health care Systems, Inc. He spent 19 years with Johnson & Johnson and seven years with Abbott Laboratories. He held numerous General Management and Marketing and Sales positions, in both medical devices and diagnostics. While at Abbott Laboratories, he held various sales and marketing positions. Earlier in his J&J career, Mr. Michels served in various positions of increasing responsibility, including Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Vice President/General Manager of Immunocytometry Business, Executive Director of Sales & Marketing, Director of Marketing, Director of Sales and Regional Sales Manager at Ortho Diagnostic Systems, Inc. He serves as a Member of the U.S. Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (PACHA). He serves on the Board of St. Luke's Hospital and Health Network in Bethlehem, PA. He has been a Director of West Pharmaceutical Services Inc. since February 24, 2011. He has been a Director of Orasure Technologies Inc. since June 23, 2004. He serves as a Trustee of St. Luke's University Health Network. He served on the Board of the National Blood Foundation, the Board of the National Committee for Quality Health Care and the Coalition to Protect America's Health Care. Mr. Michels received a B.S. degree in Public Health Administration from the University of Illinois in 1978 and an M.B.A. from Rutgers University in 1990.
