View ArticleThere are a great deal of vehicles that utilize a CK wiring configuration socket for S8W & T20 dual filament applications.
The ZEVO and SYLVANIA LED S8W and T20 dual filament lamps are not currently compatible with CK socket wiring configurations.
Indications of a CK socket are:
Tail light (minor function) operates normally, but the Brake light (Major function) does not with the lamp inserted into the socket in one orientation.
Flip/Rotate the lamp 180 degrees and then the Tail light (minor function) no longer functions, but the Brake light (Major function) now works.
Today, the only option would be to rewire the socket wires.

The ZEVO app is compatible with the following: Apple: Iphone 4s and above, Mini Ipad 3rd and 4 generation Android: OS 4.3 and above.
So if an android customer has an older phone or has not upgraded their operating system to 4.3 or above on their phone, they'll get an error message.Same for Iphone customers. They need to upgrade their phone.
A new version was released at 3:00pm on 12/8 will let them automatically reconnect to the pulse / hybrid instead of having to swipe left and delete, then refresh. There may still be some people that have to power cycle their units and that is on the list to fix asap.
View ArticleWe do not provide distances of lamp performance for several reasons:
1) We provide a light source as a 2nd tier customer to first tier headlamp manufacturers. As first tier they design the optics of the headlamp. We cannot assume that the optical design gives the best performance for down-road for a headlamp.
2) We only provide the light source. Wedon'tknow the shape of the headlamp lens. Oxidation or degradation of the polycarbonate lens can significantly impact down road performance. Note: We offer HRK for Aftermarket headlamp restoration.
3) The lamps we manufacture are precisely measured in our photometry system and goniometer.

View ArticleSilverStar Ultra vs. SilverStar zXe; which is better and what is the difference? They are both great products and have been designed for different markets. SilverStar Ultra is designed as the brightest downroad + whiter light, more a product for improved safety, while SilverStar zXe is designed purely as the whitest light, more of a product for style and look of the car. Which customer are you; one who wants safety first or one who wants style first. A headlight that is brighter downroad is important but so is a whiter headlight. A whiter light helps with reflectivity of street markings & road signs along with improving overall contrast of objects in and along the road, like deer. So really, you need to decide what type of driver you are and what product works best for you; safety or style.
SilverStar zXe the Attitude of HID, Xenon Fueled SilverStar Ultra Brightest downroad + Whiter light
View ArticleThere are a lot of factors that go into what we call brightness. Brighter bulbs are designed for better downroad performance. XtraVision is brighter downroad, SilverStar is brighter downroad + a whiter light and SilverStar ULTRA products is our brightest downroad + a whiter light in comparison to our BASIC family.
Our SilverStar products also help the driver experience with more clarity during night time driving. We define clarity as the combination of downroad, sideroad and white light. Increased clarity is achieved from a brighter downroad, greater sideroad and whiter light and can improve contrast and object visibility such as street signs and road hazards. However, since we have designed our high performance headlights to be brighter and/or whiter than basic halogen, they have a shorter life span. We offer a wide variety of products to satisfy customer needs for brightness, whiteness, clarity and budget. We recommend evaluating your lighting annually as part of your regular maintenance.

View ArticleIts very unusual for any of our products to cause damage to a vehicle. We've been in the automotive lighting industry for many years and simply wouldn't put a product on the market that was unsafe to use or was known to cause vehicle damage.
OSRAM Sylvania Automotive Lighting is a second tier supplier to automotive manufacturers. That is we, OSRAM Sylvania, manufacture the light sources (bulbs) to strict government and customer standards and supply them to tier one suppliers whereupon, they too must meet strict government and customer standards. We work very closely with these tier one, original equipment manufacturers.
Several tests are performed during the design stages of the reflector to ensure performance and operation without degradation. We at OSRAM Sylvania know and test our lamps to temperature profiles and share that data with the original equipment reflector manufacturers. It is known by OSRAM Sylvania that substandard and illegal aftermarket reflector assemblies can be obtained on the Internet or by other means such as car magazine advertisements. We do not warranty our products when used in aftermarket assemblies because they lack the same quality control measures and do not necessarily meet the same standards as original equipment manufacturers.
View ArticleQ: If I set to my favorite color with favorite mode, and then turn OFF the strip with the remote, does the strip return to the last setting when I use the remote to turn it back ON?
A: Yes, the last setting remains in memory and will resume when turned back ON with the remote.
Q: If I set to my favorite color with favorite mode, and then turn Off the strip by shutting off power with the ignition key, does the strip return to the last setting when power is restored with the ignition key?
A: Yes, the last setting remains in memory and will automatically resume the last operation when the power is restored.
Q: Is the strip kit water resistant?
A: The ZEVO Interior Strip Kit is rated for interior use only. The strip itself is water resistant, but the electrical connections at the end of the strips are not.
If there is a chance the strip may encounter some moisture, the electrical connections can be further protected by applying a weather resistant heat shrink tubing, the kind with adhesive inside.
Q: Can the 12 strip be trimmed to size?
A: The 12 strip can be cut in half, to 6 long. If you cut between any other LEDs, one or two adjacent LEDs may become inoperative.
Make sure the cut is clean and not shorting any conductors on the strip. If the strip is cut, the cut end of the strip should be sealed with silicone sealant, to protect the exposed conductors at the end.
Q: I do not have a lighter socket available in the vehicle. Can I wire the controller directly to 12V?
A: You can wire the ZEVO Interior Strip Kit controller directly to 12V. Simply cut off the lighter socket adapter. Trim the wire insulation back.
Attach the Red wire to a switched and fused (+12V) circuit. The other wire, white or black should be attached to (-).
Q: I want to use a strip kit inside the car and another strip kit in the trunk. Can I use the same remote to control both?
A: Yes, the remote can operate multiple controllers.
If you want to make the different kits to operate differently, i.e. Red in the car and Fade in the trunk, be careful with regards to which controller you are pointing the remote at.
Q: Could someone elses IR remote operate my ZEVO strip kit?
A: Possibly, yes, so take care in locating your controllers eye where it will not accidently be activated by someone else.
Q: Why is there a limit of 20 of strips?
A: The voltage at each strip drops a little bit as additional strips are added with the voltage being the lowest at the last strip away from the controller.
If you find the further strips are dimmer, then use a splitter at the controller. It is best to have multiple strips from splitters than a long continuous strip.
Q: The Installation Instructions note a limit of 20 of strips. What if I need more than that?
A: You can add a 2-way or 3-way splitter to the cable at the controller. You can then install multiple circuits, exceeding the 20 strips limitation.
Ive noticed that after 10 strips, it drops about a volt on a lab bench. After 18 strips, it drops about two volts in the lab.
Adding more strips does not damage it, but the further LEDs get noticeably dimmer.
Q: Do the LEDs get HOT?
A: All light sources create heat. The LEDs are very efficient so they generate very little heat, when compared to incandescent lamps.
They do not get excessively hot during normal operation.
Q: Can the strip kits be hooked up to pulsate through the speakers? Does GL have something that can make this happen?
A: GL has home products that can do this and we are developing lamps that can do this. Strip kits are NOT designed to pulsate.
View ArticleWe now offer some LED retrofits for interior and license plate applications, but headlight and signal light applications pose a variety of challenges from legal beam patterns to outage detection. These have proven very difficult to overcome with a street legal retrofit, and accordingly, we do not yet offer retrofits for headlights or signal lights and are unlikely to do so soon. We will continue to introduce a variety of add-on products to enhance forward lighting function and appearance, and interior lighting function and ambience, and consumers should check back on a regular basis for new product introduction info.
It is possible to a cause the turn signal lamp flash rate to be too fast (hyper-flash) by replacing an incandescent turn signal lamp with an LED replacement lamp. The turn signal flash rate can be slowed down by installing a Load Resistor. A separate load resistor is required for each incandescent turn signal lamp that is replaced.
The flash rate is related to the turn signal lamp circuit load. A standard 3157 lamp used as a turn signal operates at 27 watts. The LED replacement lamp uses 2-4 watts. Lower wattage often times increases the flash rate. More wattage is required to slow the flash rate. Using a 6 ohm load resistor will provide additional wattage to reduce the flash rate.
CAUTION: The load resistor gets extremely hot during operation and remains hot for some time after operation. It must be securely attached to a flat metal vehicle surface, away from any hot or heat sensitive objects. Never touch a hot resistor as severe burns may result.

Some LEDs list 2 different wattages on the package for example, the 3157A lists 1.5/0.4w
This is similar to a dual filament bulb when your brake is on, its the higher wattage, when your brake is not on and only your tail light is on, its the lower wattage.
View ArticleThe 6 ohm load equalizer will not work with 6V system.
Our LED lamps are not rated for 6V operation.
Do not use with 24V system, would be twice as hot and could cause damage.
Easy verification once equalizer installed: turn on turn signals (only) and verify load equalizer heats up.
Sylvania Load Equalizer - Only Guaranteed to Work with Sylvania Products
The load equalizer goes in parallel with the LED bulb. There is no polarity to the load equalizer. Remind him to mount it to metal.
View ArticlePower = Voltage2/Resistance
At 12V: Load Equalizer Power = 122/6 = 24 watts At 12.8V: Load Equalizer Power = 12.82/6 = 27 watts
Power varies as a function of the square of the voltage (more input voltage = more power, less input voltage = less power)
Same thing goes for incandescent lamps.
Use one Load equalizer for each 27W incandescent lamp (3157, etc) that is replaced with an LED lamp (3157R or 3157A etc) for the turn signal application.
