Understanding the human element, not just the numbers.
Honesty and transparency. The workers are not dumb and can see through your corporate double-speak. If you are shopping the company, make it a team effort. Don't take away the few benefits like 401k matching to try and resell this heap of tech debt.
Giving a single hoot about employees. This is a company run by accountants with one goal - reduce costs. For them, people are simply a cost and have no more value than a desk or a coffee cup. Given their collective history, getting better is not an option. Only getting out will help.
Executive leadership was hired to slice and dice the company from what was leftover from Dell. No growth plan, no thought about employees, no real management skill. Profit targets are all that matters no matter what the long term impact is.
I have worked as hard as I can. They first reduced solutions I can sell, then they reduced customers and finally they doubled my quota. That not a fair treatment for such a long-term commitment.
Benefits are a joke. Leadership puts policies on paper and then only enforces them when it suites the company. Treat your employees like humans, not numbers in an excel sheet. Maybe some actual training or feedback instead of wasteful SKOs that marketing and c-suite think make an impact.
We are losing allot of people to other software companies who are paying much better than quest.
Review from Sales Dept
Due to the numerous sales of the company, they have averaged < 2% raises for the past 7 years. Even "top performers" are only getting 3% on good years but then nothing the next because of budget constraints.
On average (according to most web site data) people are paid between 12% and 17% less than the area average

Management should listen to employees. Employees are undervalued.
Look for good people managers with an open mindset. Some of the middle management haven't changed since years. Take a look on fluctuation and consider where to place new management.

Put money into R&D and less into legal "shakedowns" of old customers. No one wants to renew when the products are unchanged for 3+ years and the costs are 3x the original
Because the marketing budget has been cut to the bone, nobody knows who Quest is anymore. Once, a very recognizable company is a shadow of it's former self. Improvement can only come from a sale.
Stop looking at the 6 week plan and start looking forward. The short term decisions which allow the execs to make their profit targets (and therefore their bonus targets - 50% for most execs) is killing the company. Either commit to growth or sell it but don't keep with the death by 1000 layoffs
A 100% turnover in the executive leadership team (along with most of the senior management).
