  • Were you monitoring a home on Redfin, but when you went to check on it later, it is no longer active and doesn't show a recent sale? If so it may mean that the home was delisted or withdrawn from the MLS, or the listing agent removed the listing from the market by the request of the homeowner.

The image below shows an example of a delisted event in property history and will let you know why the home is off-market. To find this you can either click on the Property History button above the pictures of the home or scroll down the page where you will see this header:

    Favorites

*Note not all homes that are delisted will show an event depending on the rules of the local MLS.

There are multiple reasons that this would happen:

-The homeowner changed their mind about selling

    - The seller's contract expired

    - The homeowner still wants to sell but has decided to wait till a different time to re-list

When a home is delisted from the MLS, details such as the listing photos, listing price, and description will no longer be available on Redfin. What will show on the property page instead, will either be the sale information from the last MLS listing or public records information from the County Assessor.

Depending on the reason for the home being delisted it is possible that the property may be put back on the market, so you can keep your eye out just in case it is relisted! To get updates when the home goes back on the market, add the property to your list of .

If we have available agents, you will see an option to schedule a tour through the 'Go Tour This Home Feature', found to the right of the photos of a home.

If you see a lightning bolt symbol next to the time slot, that means that the tour time has been confirmed with the listing agent as a time the home is available to show, so showings are guaranteed.

For homes without the lightning bolt, that means that the tour will need to be confirmed by our tour coordinator once the home tour is submitted.

Next, you will fill out your contact information along with any notes you may want to send to the local team!

After you book your first home your tour, adding more homes is super simple! You can add more homes by clicking the ‘Add Homes to Tour’ button.

If this is your first tour with Redfin, you will be asked to verify your identity. Check out this article for more ore information on verifying your identity.

  • Redfin pulls all listing information directly from the Multiple Listing Service. Here are a few tips to ensure that your listing shows correctly on Redfin.

Please note, if you see an error on Redfin, it is good practice to check other MLS powered websites such as Movoto.com and Estately.com. If we all have the same wrong information, there may be an issue with your MLS.

    The description isn’t showing:

On the MLS, make sure that Remarks on IDX are set to “Yes.” This allows the public to see your remarks.

The address is showing Undisclosed on Redfin:

On the MLS, make sure you have the address marked “Address on IDX: Yes”

The listing shows Inactive/Not for Sale

Redfin may not be pulling listings from your MLS. Emails Customer Support for a list of MLS's that we pull from in your area.

Please note, Redfin does not display commercial or rental properties.

The images for my listing are not on Redfin or out of order.

Images can sometimes take a little longer to import from the MLS. Please have patience, they will populate! If it has been more than 24 hours, please email us.

    Public Facts are Incorrect:

The information in the ‘Public Facts’ section is provided by the county or updated by the homeowner before the home was active. Please email the Customer Support team with a copy of the correct data from the County Assessor's office and we will manually correct this section.

  • When searching for homes on Redfin, you may notice that you have an option to download specific home data onto an excel spreadsheet directly from the site.

To find this enter a search location on the map page. Please note, the option to download data will only be available if the local MLS allows it. If this option is not available in the location you’re searching, please know this is due to MLS compliance rules. You can learn more about your local MLS data rules directly from our terms of agreements page.

To download data, you will want to scroll to the bottom of the table, and from there click on the ‘Download All’ button.

This information is exported from the site and into an excel spreadsheet that will include data regarding listing details for an individual home (I.E. Sales price, time on Redfin, Bed, Bath count etc).

From here your excel spreadsheet will be available. Please note that there is a 350 home cap on data downloading. If your search has over 350 homes populating, we recommend adjusting your search parameters to show a smaller search area.

  • On each listing details page on Redfin, we show a Public Facts section that contains information about that property such as bedroom count, bathroom count, the home's square footage and other factual information that is available from public records. If these Public Facts seem outdated, you can update them by selecting the Edit Facts option. Redfin gets this information from a third party who gets it directly from local county assessor and recorder offices. We display this information to give you the most complete set of facts about a property and to supplement MLS-provided information about a home which can occasionally be incomplete or unclear.

Why Doesn't Public Record Information Always Match MLS-Provided Information?

There are a number of reasons why the facts entered by the listing agent may not match those from public records. The MLS listing is typically the most up-to-date and reliable source of information about a home for sale. Below are several common reasons why the two sources may not agree:

Recent Additions & Remodels. When a house has been recently remodeled or updated, the MLS listing typically reflects the most current number of beds, baths and square footage. The assessor's records are typically much slower to update. Additionally, the MLS "year built" may sometimes be the year of a major remodel whereas public records typically show the year the original structure was built.

Finished vs. Unfinished Square Footage. It may not always be clear whether the square footage of an MLS listing includes any partially finished or unfinished areas of the house such as a basement or a garage. Public records often split out square feet into finished/unfinished which can make it clearer. When the MLS and public square footage do not agree, the MLS typically is more reliable.

Addresses. On rare occasions, we may accidentally match a listing with the wrong property's public record. This can happen if a parcel was divided or there are two very similar addresses in a certain jurisdiction. Contact us with the home's address or MLS number if you suspect this may have happened.

Historical Data. Redfin shows sold listings from the MLS for the past several years. The home facts for the MLS listing describe the house at the time it was sold. This is valuable information when using sold data to determine the fair market value of a property you are interested in. The current public facts for these older listing may reflect work done on the home after the sale.

It is a good idea to contact your agent if you have questions or need some clarification about MLS-provided facts. If you are interested in a home, there is no substitute for seeing it in person to see its condition, size and features first hand.

    Sold Information from Public Records

In addition to beds, baths, square footage etc. Redfin also displays publicly recorded sale records, if available. If the sold data we are currently showing for your home is incorrect and you have verified that your county assessor's office is showing it correctly, you can let us know by clicking the 'Submit a Request' button below and attaching a copy of homes correct data. Once received we'll look into get this corrected a quickly as possible!

  • What is a Partner Agent?

Partner Agents work for traditional brokerages like RE/MAX or Coldwell Banker but have teamed up with Redfin to help you buy or sell your home. Partner Agents have gone through an extensive interview process to ensure that only experienced agents, who adhere to the same customer service values as Redfin Agents, work with our customers.

Partner Agents are offered to our customers when:

Redfin Agents are experiencing exceptionally high customer demand.

A home’s sale proceeds are below our market-based minimum commission (varies by market).

A home is outside our direct service area.

What are the benefits of buying with a Partner Agent?

Partner Agents are held to the same high standards and values as Redfin Agents to ensure that customers have an excellent home-buying or selling experience.

We interview every candidate to ensure they are experienced and require previous customer reviews, which are posted on their online profile.

Partner Agents must maintain a 4+ star rating in order to work with us.

You have the support of the Partner Team, located at our Seattle headquarters and Chicago Support Hub, to ensure that you have the best experience possible. The Partner Team can help answer questions or discuss changing your agent if you feel the agent assigned to you is not a good fit.

How can I tell the difference between a Redfin Agent and Partner Agent on Redfin.com?

When a property you're looking at is in an area serviced by a Partner Agent, the Partner Agent's picture and contact information will appear on the right-hand side of the property's listing page. Please note, the agent profile you see on the right-hand side is not the listing agent for the property.

    [email protected]

Partner Agents are also listed under the Redfin Agent profiles on the Real Estate Agent section of the website:

How do I learn more about Partner Agents in my area?

Please visit our Real Estate Agents page and select your location. Scroll down and click on any of the Partner Agent photos to view their profile and get more information on an agent's past transaction history and customer reviews.

If you already know the name of an agent in your area, you can also search for them in any search boxes that display on our site.

How do I contact a Partner Agent?

To get in contact with a Partner Agent about buying or selling a home, click on the gray “Ask a Question” button to the right of the photos of the home you’re looking at.

From there, you’ll see a question box, which once submitted, we’ll connect you to that agent through your Redfin Account.

If you need assistance, we have a dedicated team who are able to assist 7 days a week. To get in touch with the Partner Program Team, you can reach them at 253-271-8436 or [email protected].

    Their office hours are:

    Mon-Fri, 7am - 6pm (PST)

    Sat-Sun, 8am - 5pm (PST)

    Buying with a Partner Agent

Partner Agents can help you find homes that meet your criteria and offer the same full service as a Redfin Agent. However, because they do not work directly for Redfin, they typically do not offer a refund. Please note, that the buyer’s contract will not be under Redfin but the Partner Agent’s brokerage.

    Selling with a Partner Agent

Since Partner Agents come from a traditional brokerage, they charge a standard list fee typically around 2.5-3\%, which can potentially be negotiable. Please note, the seller’s contract will not be under Redfin but the Partner Agent’s brokerage.

    Touring with a Partner Agent

Customers are able to put in a tour request online. You will receive an email with your Partner Agents information and how they work. Once you have been connected with your assigned Partner Agent, we’ll send you another email to give you their contact details, and all future tour requests and questions go directly to them.

What if I want to Change Agents?

Requesting a change in agents is an easy process that only takes a few steps.

How do I know if I’m connected to a Partner?

The agent you are assigned to will notify you if you are working with a Partner Agent. You can also see this on your account and receive an email confirming that you will be working with a Partner Agent:

    Deal Room / Owner Dashboard

Currently, customers connected with a Partner Agent do not have access to an online deal room. If you have questions about your transaction with your Partner Agent, please contact them directly or the Partner Team at or 253-271-8436.

  • Home buyers and sellers are at risk of being targeted by criminals, who hack your email accounts as well as your real estate service providers’ accounts (e.g., title agents, mortgage brokers, real estate agents, and lawyers), in order to trick you into wiring money to fraudulent bank accounts. These hackers make themselves appear authentic by including personal details they have obtained by hacking into their targets’ email and social media accounts.

Here’s What You Need To Know

REDFIN WILL NEVER EMAIL YOU WIRE INSTRUCTIONS, ASK YOU TO CHANGE WIRE INSTRUCTIONS, OR ASK FOR YOUR BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION VIA EMAIL. If you receive an email or call allegedly from Redfin which provides wiring instructions, it is fraudulent. Do not respond to it and please call your Redfin agent immediately.

Here’s What You Need To Do

    Phone Verification

Verify all sensitive requests over the phone or in person, and never by email, even if they appear to come from someone known to you, even a Redfin employee. Call them using a known phone number. Don’t use phone numbers or links from an email.

    Ask Questions

Ask specific questions of the other party that only they would know like what is their manager’s name or the last time you met them in person. After you wire money, call the title company within 4 to 8 hours to confirm they received it at the right account.

    Treat New Requests Seriously

Treat any requests to change existing wiring instructions with extreme suspicion.Hover your mouse over email addresses to ensure the sender name and email address matches the hyperlinked address, and that all email addresses (including the @[ABC].com domain name) are exact. Check for poor grammar and punctuation in the body of the email. These are all signs of a potentially fraudulent email. Below, scroll through some examples of how criminals fake emails to steal your money.

What To Do If You Are Targeted

    Call Your Bank

Call your bank and ask them to issue a recall notice for your wire. Call within 24 hours for the best chance of recovering your money.

    Report It

Report the crime to www.ic3.gov as well as your local police and regional FBI office ( https://www.fbi.gov/contact-us/field-offices ). IF YOU ALREADY WIRED FUNDS TO A FRAUDULENT ACCOUNT, TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE. GET THE FBI AND BANKS INVOLVED IMMEDIATELY.

    Fake Email Examples

Here is an example of a legitimate email from the lender to the customer. However, a hacker has obtained access to this email account and is able to read it.

Now that the hacker knows the emails and names of those involved in this transaction, they impersonate the lawyer to get information from the lender. Notice that the email has the same name but is from “gmail”, not “legalaide.com”. The hacker could also impersonate the buyer using this same strategy.

The lender doesn’t notice and sends the hacker the closing date and wiring amount. With this information, the hacker can make their emails seem more authentic.

The hacker then impersonates the lender and asks the customer to wire them money to their personal/fraudulent account. Notice that their email is from “gmail”, not “lenderusa.com”. Also, take note that they use poor grammar and a different signature than what Michelle was using in her other emails.

This field is a great way to search for options that might not be typical, like searching for a pool or single-story home. Enter any phrase that you are interested in, like “rambler” or “pool.” If the listing agent has included this description on the home, Redfin will help you find these types of homes. If you enter multiple terms, only listings whose descriptions contain all of them will be included in your search.

    Suggested Searches:

Find the home that suits your personality with a search for craftsman, loft, bungalow, or tudor.

Narrow your multi-family search by searching for duplex or triplex.

Stay warm by searching for a fireplace.

    Find a house with a mother-in-law apartment.

Get the features you want with a search for hardwood floors or maybe granite countertops.

Search properties with a hot tub or a pool.

At this time, the keywords search is restricted to a listing's marketing remarks and does not search the full text of the listing's amenities.

  • We Survey Our Customers And Show You The Reviews

    Redfin partner agent

We believe that every customer's opinion is important and that everyone using Redfin should see how our agents performed. We survey customers who sign an offer or list a home, regardless of whether they successfully complete a sale with Redfin. We publish all the reviews--the good, the bad, the ugly---on our agents' profile pages. This not only lets you see how Redfin did as a company but also helps you choose the right agent.

We prepared this list of frequently asked questions. If you have more questions about agent profiles, how Redfin works, or anything else about the site, feel free to contact us directly.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Does Redfin survey every customer and post every review?

While we try to survey every customer and post all received survey responses, there are limited situations when we will not send out a survey or we will hide the response, for example:

When Redfin has to terminate the relationship with the customer.

If the customer exhibited rude or inappropriate behavior towards one of our agents or asked one of our agents to act unethically.

If a customer is transferred to a new agent in the middle of a deal (for example, because their former agent no longer works for Redfin).

If a customer works with multiple agents, goes on multiple tours or writes multiple offers. Those customers may get only one survey.

Where a survey response violates the Community Guidelines outlined in Redfin's Terms of Use.

When Redfin and the customer agree that the customer will not receive a survey or will not have their survey response posted.

In addition to publicly-displayed surveys, we may send our customers short surveys designed to help us improve our customer service. The results of these other short surveys are not displayed on our site.

Some surveys say "No response". What does that mean?

Clients don't always respond to the survey. We still wish to show you the transaction involved so you can see the homes that the agents helped buy or sell.

When does Redfin send out a survey?

Redfin surveys clients after their first home tour and after they sign their final offer with us to buy a home, or after they sign a listing agreement to sell a home. If the client tours multiple times, the client may not get surveyed every time, to prevent survey fatigue. For the same reason, if a client submits multiple offers, the client will receive a survey only once, usually after they close or 30 days after their final offer. We show the responses to these surveys because we want to know how we did and feel that it's important to share that information with our customers.

Sometimes, when a client continues working with us over an extended period of time, we'll push out the survey time-frame by an additional 30 or 60 days. If you think you should have received a survey, but we haven't sent you one, just let your agent know.

What does the survey look like?

There are different surveys depending on the event. For example, there would be a different survey for a home offer versus a home tour.

The survey itself is broken into two smaller surveys. The first survey is the same for all events and asks:

How likely are you to recommend your agent's real estate services to a friend or acquaintance? (Rated from 0 to 10, with 10 being the strongest possible recommendation.)

Please review your experience with your agent.

Can we anonymously share your comments about your agent with other Redfin website users? We will never share your name, email or other contact information.

If you worked with a, your survey may include additional questions about your experience.

Once the client submits the first survey, the client may be taken to a longer second survey. The second survey asks questions that are specific to the event. These responses are used internally for things like developing demographic statistics and are not directly displayed on Redfin.com.

How is the star rating calculated?

The star rating is the average of all of the returned ratings. The returned rating is actually measured on a scale from 0 to 10. All ratings are averaged and then divided by 2 to get the overall star rating.

What question is asked to get that agent rating?

The question is "How likely are you to recommend [Redfin Agent]’s services to a friend or acquaintance?" It is considered by many experts to be the best question to determine customer satisfaction. Clients can answer on a scale from 0 to 10, with 10 being most likely to recommend Redfin. This is used to calculate the agent rating and Redfin's overall Net Promoter Score for the agent(NPS). This score is divided by 2 to get the star rating for each review.

If the same client returns two surveys with two different ratings for the same agent (e.g. the client made multiple purchases through Redfin), how does that affect an agent's score?

Both ratings are included in the agent's score. No scores are excluded by default.

Why is the number of deals sometimes different from the number of reviews?

Deals include only transactions that result in a successful home purchase or sale. Reviews include all survey responses, regardless of whether a home is bought or sold. If an agent gets a review based on an offer that was not accepted, this would count as a review, but not a deal. On the other hand, if the client bought a home but did not return a review, this would count toward the agent's total deals, but not toward total reviews. This means that the number of deals and the number of reviews don't always line up.

I used Redfin to make an offer on a home, buy a home, list a home, or sell a home and I did not get a survey. How can I get surveyed?

There could be several reasons for this:

We don't have your contact information or we have the wrong contact information. We send surveys via email. If you gave us an email that you don't check regularly (e.g. an email address just for Redfin but no other purpose), you may not realize that you received a survey email.

The email might have been filtered to your spam or junk email folder.

There was a technical issue or outage when your email was supposed to be sent. To get a survey sent to you again, please reach out to Customer Service.

Please see FAQ above for other reasons why we may not send out a survey.

What's the difference between Redfin Agents and Partner Agents?

Redfin Agents are employees of Redfin. Partner Agents don't work directly for our brokerage, but go through a thorough interview process in order to work with our customers to ensure that they provide the same level of customer service as Redfin Agents.

One other difference is that Redfin Agents offer a commission refund on a sliding scale, based on list price and standard agent commission. Partner Agents don't offer a commission refund. Back to top

Will I be working with a Redfin Agent or a Partner Agent?

There are several reasons we may refer you to a Partner Agent rather than a Redfin Agent. We may not have Redfin Agents in your area, or the home you're interested in may be listed below our minimum price requirement. We also sometimes refer new customers to a Partner Agent if Redfin is receiving an unusually high demand for services. If you've already started working with a Redfin Agent, you'll never be switched to a Partner Agent unless you request it or decide to shop for a home outside our service area or below our minimum price.

It's always clear on our site when you're choosing to work directly with Redfin and when you're working with a Partner Agent. And it's always your choice. No one will call or email you except at your request.

What if I start working with Redfin and decide I want to work with a traditional agent?

What if I'm already working with an agent?

We can't help you tour or make an offer if you're already working with another agent outside of Redfin. If you believe your agent is not delivering the value you expect, you can end your relationship with that agent and use a Redfin Agent.

If you signed a buyer's agency agreement, you must first inform your agent in writing of your decision. Please read that agreement carefully to ensure there are no other obligations to the agent following termination. Browsing Homes on Redfin.com

How can I see all the homes that are on the market?

When you browse homes on Redfin.com and our mobile apps, you're seeing the most updated listings available, all in one place. Our website and apps pull directly from the local real estate database (MLS), which is updated by local listing agents from a variety of brokerages. When a home is listed on the MLS, it will appear on Redfin.com in about 5 minutes. We also pull from Fizber.com, and FSBO.com, for homes that are for sale by owner.

If you're not seeing as many homes as you expect when searching, your search criteria may be limiting your results too much. For instance, using a city name rather than a zip code can produce more results in certain locations. Our Help Center can walk you through the process of searching for homes on Redfin.com.

How can I find more homes that match my criteria?

Using filters during a search will help you refine your results according to your criteria. Our Help Center can give you tips on filtering your search.

How can I stay up to date on all the homes I’m interested in?

If you have a Redfin account, just add homes to your list of favorites as you browse, and then sign up to receive alerts whenever one of your favorite homes is updated. You can also adjust your email settings so you receive listing updates when the price changes or an open house is scheduled for a favorite home.

How can I share homes and get input from my agent, co-buyer, or friends?

If you have a Redfin account, you can invite others to see and comment on your favorite homes by using the Shared Favorites tool.

How is the Redfin Estimate calculated?

As a real estate brokerage, Redfin has complete, direct access to Multiple Listing Services (MLSs), the databases that real estate agents use to list properties. This gives us information about homes that many non-brokerage websites don’t have, like whether the home has a water view or is located on a busy street. The Redfin Estimate algorithm considers hundreds of data points about the market, the neighborhood, and the home itself. When all of this data meets the computing power of our technology, you get the Redfin Estimate. Learn More

How do I find out how popular a home is?

Properties labeled as Hot Homes are more likely to sell within two weeks, based on attributes like price, neighborhood, and buyer preferences in the area. You can also see how long a home has been on the market, and how many times it's been favorited or toured, on the listing page.

Who are the agents associated with a home listed on Redfin.com? What are their roles?

The agent pictured to the right of the home's photo on the listing page is the Redfin Agent or Partner Agent who serves buyers of homes in that area. This agent is the customer's main point of contact throughout a transaction, answering questions, writing an offer, and negotiating the best deal.

Each Redfin Agent is supported by other real estate experts who provide on-demand service and help streamline the buying process:

Independent contractor Associate Agents lead home tours and attend open houses and inspections.

Coordinators schedule tours and help customers get pre-approved. They also coordinate property access for inspectors and appraisers, manage escrow, and prepare paperwork to ensure an on-time closing.

You can find the contact information for the seller's agent under the property description for the home, in accordance with MLS guidelines. But we recommend that you work with a buyer's agent, such as the Redfin Agent pictured on the listing page, rather than contacting a seller's agent directly. That way you have an agent representing your best interests right from the beginning.

Where can I find more information about a neighborhood?

You can learn about nearby schools, median home values, walkability, and more by reviewing the "Schools" and "Neighborhood" sections of a home's listing page. Walkscore.com is also a useful resource that offers insights about crime rates, nearby retail, and more.

If you still need more information, your local Redfin Agent can give you details about a particular home's neighborhood.

    Home Tours

Do you offer home tours so I can see the property I'm interested in before buying it?

Absolutely! A Redfin Agent or independent contractor Associate Agent will take you to see your first home tour, and as many as you want after that. Our agents take the time to get to know you and your needs, providing expert advice about the home and the neighborhoodwith no pressure to buy.

Redfin will ask that you get pre-approved before your third tour with us, and possibly earlier in certain areas and during times of high demand. Getting pre-approved shows sellers that you're serious about a home purchase. And if you tour a home you really love, being pre-approved makes the offer process faster and easier.

Does touring a property obligate me to work with Redfin?

No. Touring with Redfin will not obligate you to buy a home with us, but we hope you find our service valuable and continue to stay with us through the buying process. After your home tour, we'll follow up to see if you need any more help with your search.

Do I have to choose an agent in order to visit a home?

Not at all! Just choose a tour date and time that work best for you, and Redfin will do the rest by scheduling an agent to lead the tour. If the date and time you've chosen aren't available, we'll contact you to reschedule. Learn More

What makes scheduling a tour with Redfin better than other options, like open houses or using a traditional agent?

When you tour with a Redfin Agent or independent contractor Associate Agent, you have a real estate expert on your side who has in-depth local knowledge and can point out things about the property you may miss. Our agents will never pressure you to buy, no matter how many homes you tour. If you do decide to make an offer, the agent can get the process started right away.

Touring with Redfin also allows you to see a home when it fits your schedule, and can give you an advantage over buyers who wait for an open house. Because our agents are backed by teams who streamline the scheduling process, we can often provide same-day tours.

Unlike some brokerages, Redfin will never make you sign a contract before you tour, so you can feel good about scheduling tours without worrying about being tied to a particular agent.

I scheduled a home tour. What are the next steps?

After scheduling a tour on our website, you'll get a notification that we've received your tour request. Our local team will get to work confirming the availability of the home and our agents. If the home isn’t available to tour at the time you requested, we'll contact you and figure out a time that works better for everyone. If it's your first tour with us, we'll ask you to verify your identity.

Once we have the details all set, we'll reach out to let you know your tour is a go. A confirmation email will include the name of the touring agent as well as the date, time, and location of your tour.

Is there anything I can do to see a home in more detail without visiting in person?

    ID Verification

Why does Redfin need to verify my identity before my first home tour?

When one of our agents connects with a customer for an initial home tour, it's usually the first time they've met face to face. We verify each customer's identity beforehand to ensure the safety of our agents.

How does the identity verification process work?

To protect your privacy we use IDology, a third-party ID verification service that is safe, trustworthy, and non-intrusive.

The verification service will ask you a few simple questions. These are questions you should be able to answer easily but that would probably trip up an impostor. By answering these questions correctly, you'll verify that you are who you say you are.

If you have trouble with these ID verification questions, you can also complete your ID verification when our local team reaches out to confirm the tour details.

How can I learn more about the market?

Our Data Center offers detailed information about the housing market in metropolitan areas, cities, neighborhoods, and zip codes across the country. Local Redfin Agents can also answer questions about the market in your area, either one-on-one or during a free home-buying class.

    Submitting an Offer

Does submitting an offer commit me to buying a property?

Not at all! Once you click through the Offer Wizard and submit your offer for a Redfin Agent to review, the agent calls you to go over all the terms and then prepares a document for you to sign and send back to Redfin. You're under no commitment, and nothing is submitted to the seller until you put pen to paper to sign an offer.

What happens if I submit an offer after 5 pm?

A Redfin Agent will contact you the following day.

If I submit an offer through Redfin, are you obligated to work with me as a client?

No. If an offer price is far below the apparent market value of the property in question, we may ask you to explain your pricing. Without a reasonable rationale, we may ask that you modify your offer.

    Your Redfin Refund

How much money can I expect to save through Redfin?

A typical Redfin customer saves thousands on a home purchase. When representing a homebuyer, Redfin earns a commission from the seller, usually worth 2\% to 3\% of the net sales price of the home (the agreed-upon sales price minus any credits the seller pays for closing costs, repairs, or other contributions). In the markets we serve, we keep a portion of the commission for our service and refund the rest to you, subject to lender approval. * Learn more

*The Redfin Refund is not available where prohibited by law, including in Alaska, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Tennessee. Subject to lender approval and minimum commissions. See full terms and conditions.

Does Redfin have a minimum price limit?

Yes, though this price will vary depending on which part of the country you're in. If you're interested in a home with a list price under our minimum price, we'll connect you to a local Partner Agent who can help you tour the home and make an offer.

Why doesn't Redfin offer a refund in my state?

Specific laws prevent us from offering a commission refund to buyers in the following states:

    Alaska

    Iowa

    Kansas

    Louisiana

    Mississippi

    Missouri

    Oklahoma

    Oregon

    Tennessee

Commission refunds are just one benefit of working with Redfin. You still get the advantage of our complete and accurate information about homes for sale, easy online tools, and full-service agents who are paid to be on your side.

If you want to help change your state's law, please email your state representative. The simplest message will suffice: "Please repeal (e.g. Oregon law 696.290) to allow real estate agent commission refunds and make (e.g. Oregon's) housing more affordable."

How does Redfin calculate the refund?

When you buy with a Redfin Agent, we share up to half of our commission from the seller back to you.* Refunds are calculated on a sliding scale and are based on the list price of the home at the time you make an offer so you can see exactly what you'll get back right on our website. Learn More

When will I find out exactly how much money I'll save by buying with Redfin?

To get an idea of how much you can save on our commission, check the listing page of any home for sale. If a Redfin Agent is available in that market, the amount of the refund will be displayed in the "How It Works" section to the right of the home's photo. However, we'll confirm the exact commission percentage once you submit your offer. You can also contact customer support before submitting an offer, and a representative will connect you to a local agent.

For certain properties, MLS rules prevent Redfin from displaying the exact commission rates on our website.

How and when do I get my Redfin Refund?

Redfin will work with you to figure out the best way to distribute your refund.* You'll be in charge of how your savings are applied.

Unless you specify otherwise, Redfin applies your refund to your closing costs, so you pay less out of pocket for the home. Closing costs vary depending on the lender, size of the loan, home price, and timing of the closing.

The money in excess of your closing costs will be refunded to you by check at closing. Expect to get your check 7-10 days from close of escrow. This option is subject to lender approval.

What are the typical steps in the home-selling process?

Our Home-Selling Guide can walk you through the process of selling your home, from preparing for a sale to handing over your keys. For in-person guidance and the opportunity to meet a Redfin Agent, look for one of our free home-selling classes in your area.

What’s the least amount of time it typically takes to sell?

The best way to find out how quickly your home might sell is to talk to a Redfin Agent who knows the market in your area.

How can I find out how much my home will sell for?

The Redfin Estimate is a good place to start. It can give you a good idea of your home's market value based on MLS data that Redfin collects on recently sold homes. For an even more accurate estimate, contact a local Redfin Agent.

If you're thinking of selling and want to test the market before you list your home, our Price Whisperer tool can give you pricing feedback from actual buyers searching for a home like yours on Redfin.

Where can I find trusted service providers, such as title companies?

Your Redfin Agent can help with recommendations. You can also check out Redfin Open Book, a directory of local service providers, from home stagers to escrow companies, all reviewed by Redfin customers.

How can I learn more about the market?

Our Data Center offers information about the housing market in metropolitan areas, cities, neighborhoods, and zip codes across the country. Redfin Agents can also answer questions about the market, either one-on-one or during a free home-selling class.

How can I compare my home to others around it?

You can see homes like yours that are for sale or have recently sold by entering your city or zip code in our search tool. Then use filters to specify sale records or homes for sale, property type, year built, and more. Learn More

Another option is to search for your home on Redfin.com and scroll down to the bottom of your home's page to see similar homes nearby.

    Listing Fees

What is the cost to sell with Redfin?

We charge a 1.5\% listing fee when you sell, and a 1\% listing fee when you sell and buy. Our customers who sell first, then buy will pay a 1.5\% listing fee on their sale, then get a check back for that 0.5\% once they buy, subject to our minimums. Listing fees can also vary if you sell to an unrepresented buyer or hire Redfin for additional services (like our Redfin Concierge program available in some markets). To see our current pricing by market and other terms visit www.redfin.com/disclaimer.

As the seller, you'll also be responsible for the buyer’s agent fee, which is typically between 2.5\% and 3\%.

In areas where we don't yet have Redfin Agents, or if our agents are at capacity, you can use a Partner Agent to sell your home. Partner Agents typically charge a listing fee of 2.5\%3\%, which is negotiable, in addition to the buyer's agent fee.

If the home doesn’t sell, do I still have to pay Redfin?

No. You only pay the agent’s fees at the time your home sells.

What services are included in the listing fee?

Redfin is a full-service brokerage with local, experienced agents who will help you every step of the way. We offer a free, no-obligation consultation with an agent who can meet you at your home to discuss the property and offer a comparative market analysis. If you decide to list with us, we’ll arrange for professional photography, an MLS listing, a digital marketing plan, yard sign, fliers, and an open house schedule. We also offer a 3D Walkthrough tour exclusively for Redfin-listed homes.

What percentage is paid to the buyer’s agent?

The commission offered by the seller to the buyer's agent differs depending on your area but is generally between 2\% and 3\%. Feel free to contact a local Redfin Agent, with no obligation, to discuss what you can expect to pay when selling your home with Redfin.

If the buyer doesn't have an agent, do I pay less in fees?

When a buyer is unrepresented, you don't pay a buyer's agent commission, and we increase our commission to 2\% or 2.5\%, depending on your area. Selling to an unrepresented buyer can sometimes bring challenges, so as with any offer, you'll want to talk to your Redfin Agent about the potential upsides and downsides of the terms of each offer before accepting.

    Listing a Home on Redfin.com

Can my home be displayed on Redfin.com even if I don't use a Redfin Agent?

Yes! Our website and mobile apps pull directly from the local real estate database (MLS), which is updated by local listing agents from a variety of brokerages. If your home is listed on the MLS, the home's details will be pulled onto Redfin.com with the same photos and listing information that your listing agent included in the original listing. Redfin pulls updated information from the MLS every 5 minutes.

Can I list my home on Redfin.com if I choose to sell without an agent?

We do our best to show as many for-sale-by-owner (FSBO) listings as possible by pulling data from Fizber.com and FSBO.com.Please contact their support teams for more details about how to make sure your FSBO home appears on Redfin.com.

I have an upcoming open house for my listing. Can I add this to Redfin.com?

Redfin pulls all home details, including open houses, directly from the MLS. Please make sure that your listing agent adds the date and time of the open house to the MLS listing, and Redfin.com will show these details from there. Our site does not have a way for agents to log in and add open house information directly, but know that if the details are in the MLS, it will also be on Redfin.com.

Why is my off-market home on Redfin.com?

Redfin pulls off-market homes from the MLS and the county assessor. We show sold homes for real estate data purposes and to help sellers estimate their home's value by comparing it with other homes nearby.

How can I ensure my home facts are accurate, and the Redfin Estimate reflects that?

If your home is currently for sale and you notice that your home facts are not accurate, please check with your listing agent to make sure your home's MLS information has been entered correctly into the local real estate database. Redfin uses MLS data to calculate your home's current market value and updates your home's Redfin Estimate daily.

If your home is not currently for sale, click the Edit Home Facts button on your home's page to update the public facts anytime. The Redfin Estimate for your home will be updated within a week after you make changes. If you decide to sell, remember that any details or photos added by your listing agent will replace the current information showing on Redfin.com.

  • Want to know more about a home on Redfin? Each property has an 'About this Home' section designed to give you a brief but detailed description of the home. This description can help you determine if the home is a good fit for your buying needs if it’s the perfect comparable, or it can give you insight into the type of homes in a neighborhood.

When MLS data is available, the “About This Home” section will have the listing agent’s comments. The source for this data can usually be found under the Google map of the home so you know where it’s coming from.

    Here’s an example:

    edit your home facts

If your home’s description appears incorrect or outdated, it is best to get in contact with the listing agent. Some information that may be included are:
