He served as the Head of Research & Development and Senior Vice President of Research at Seagate. He served as Vice President of Advanced Recording Research of Seagate Technology Public Limited Company since August 27, 2003 until August 2006. He joined Seagate in 2003. He served as Senior Vice President of Research & Development of Read-Rite Corp. since April 1998. He held various senior managerial positions at IBM in San Jose, California and Yorktown Heights, New York and including its Director of Recording Head Development Engineering. He managed magneto resistive (MR) and giant magneto resistive (GMR) recording head development at IBM. He served as a Director of Scion Photonics, Inc. He has more than 40 articles published in scientific and engineering publications and has more than 10 patents to his credit involving magnetic recording technologies. He was also named an IBM Distinguished Engineer in 1997. Dr. Re holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor's Degree from Northwestern University.
