Executive Bio

Mr. Sena Kwawu serves as Senior Vice President of Supply Chain Finance and Shared Services at Starbucks Corporation. Mr. Kwawu is responsible for sourcing operations, core data management, finance and continuous improvement/lean functions. He joined Starbucks in December 2015. Prior to joining Starbucks, he developed a varied leadership and technical skillset from over 22 years of experience in finance, procurement and business leadership roles. He served as Senior Vice President and head of the Global Finance Transformation Office at State Street Corporation, where he led the deployment of a more effective and efficient global operating model for finance. He joined State Street in April 2011 and served as its Senior Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer and was responsible for a global spend in global procurement and global travel services. He focused on expense reduction, the implementation of best practice procurement tools and processes, led the vendor risk management program and led the implementation of a successful eProcurement program. Mr. Kwawu spent 18 years at General Electric Co. and Genworth Financial (formerly known as GE Financial Assurance). His role at Genworth Financial included Senior Vice President, Finance Shared Services where he led the global procurement, U.S. transactional accounting, global corporate insurance and global travel services. He also served as Senior Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis and Chief of Staff to the Chief Executive Officer of the Protection Segment, where he led the business planning and strategy processes during the company's initial public offering through the first two years of operations. At GE, he served as Senior Vice President, Risk Management and Senior Vice President, Sigma Quality for the Life Insurance businesses during which time he was named co-inventor of US Patent US20040186752 A1 (system and method for pool risk assessment). He is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt and a graduate of the GE Corporate Audit Staff program. He is a member of the Executive Leadership Council, the National Association of Black Accountants and the National Black MBA Association. Mr. Kwawu received his MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan with a concentration in finance and strategy and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the George Washington University.
