What does the leadership team need to get better at?

Leadership Reviews

Communication and they need to be in the office more than they are on vacation.

Management has no faith in the ability or ideas of their employees. They are blinded by their own arrogance.

Keeping their egos in check. The executives are very dismissive of employee input and treat talented people as if they were disposable. This is a company built on nepotism and favoritism with no room for creativity or critical thought.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Compensation Reviews

I've been in the same position for 4 years and have yet to get a raise.

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?

Team Reviews

The meetings should be used to discuss upcoming projects not used as playtime or gossip hour.

There are many coworkers that I am proud to work with. They are talented people that work hard despite the lack of recognition. There are also many employees that have long since given up on caring which can be frustrating.

The best thing my coworkers could do for themselves is to move on to a company that appreciates them. There are a lot of talented people working at Superior. However, management tends to be intimidated by qualities such as intelligence and creative thought. Many employees are on the road to burnout.

What needs to change to make the company culture better?

Environment Reviews

need better work life balance.

The CEO single-handedly sets the tone for the company culture. The company was handed down to him through the generations so he does not understand or appreciate the hard work that employees do. He leads through intimidation and has been known to berate employees as his whims see fit.

Since the company is family owned, I expect nothing to change... ever. Treating employees with respect and listening to their ideas instead of feeling intimidated by them would be a great start. They hire managers they can push around as opposed to ones that are qualified.

What would you improve about your company's interview process?

Interviews Reviews

I was asked by one of my interviewers if I "had thick skin" because the CEO was known to tear into people to the point that they went home crying.

It would behoove everybody involved if the interviewers were honest with prospective employees about how their time will be spent. Applicants are filled with exciting notions of their skills being put to good use. Instead, they are forced to do personal favors for upper management and their family.

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

Outlook Reviews

The ceo and president shouldn't expect their subordinates to sleep with them.

Several of the department managers have no leadership skills or the ability to inspire. In fact, they don't even stand up for the rights of the employees because they are so terrified of the CEO.

The building is decrepit in some areas and smells of mold. The company refuses to address this and even had their on-staff attorney push the HR department out of a complaint by employees concerned for their health.
