Michael C. Stigers — Executive Vice President of Wholesale at SUPERVALU

Mr. Michael C. Stigers, also known as Mike, has been an Executive Vice President of Wholesale at SUPERVALU Inc. since February 28, 2016. Mr. Stigers oversees the SUPERVALU's relationship with approximately 1,900 independent retail grocery stores across the United States. He is also responsible for SUPERVALU's logistics, procurement and transportation operations as well as third-party logistics. He has more than 40 years of experience in the grocery industry. He served as President of Cub Foods at SUPERVALU Inc., from March 2014 to 2015 and served as its Executive Vice President for Independent Business & Supply Chain from December 27, 2015 to April 19, 2016 and President of Independent Business and Supply Chain Services from February 9, 2016 to April 19, 2016. He served as President of Northern Region at SUPERVALU. He served as the President at Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc. from April 2011 to 2013. Mr. Stigers began his grocery career in 1974 as a part-time courtesy clerk at Safeway. During the next 14 years, he took on managerial positions of increasing responsibility before joining Jons Markets, an independent retailer based in Los Angeles. After a stint working for retail technology companies, he joined PW Supermarkets, San Jose, Calif. in 1999 as Director of Operations and eventually became its Chief Executive Officer. He served as President at PW Supermarkets, Inc. He has also worked on the vendor side of the grocery industry for BASS, Inc. He was a regional vice president at Sterilox Food Safety (Sterilox Fresh), a supplier of water-based food-safety products for retailers. He serves as a Director of National Grocers Association, Inc.
