Management has gone downhill in the last year. We are no longer an arts and crafts company, but a party and decor company. More and more services and responsibilities with steadily reduced payroll hours. Two staff in the store is common.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Co-workers are the most positive thing. Most of the customers are OK. But we get our share of entitled Karens.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Michaels is consistently one of the lowest-paid retail establishments, especially for the amount of tasks we have to juggle and the very low staffing levels.
What are some of the best things about your team?
The only reason I've stayed (and this is echoed on most reviews I've read) are my co-workers. They try, they really try, but we're all burned out. But management doesn't care as they believe we're easily replaceable.
