It was great at first but as time went on I was often told that I was next in line for a promotion and in the end I got pasted over by someone who had been at the company longer but never mentioned nor taken action in move up.

Honesty. If you are going to tell someone they are on the right path and next for a promotion don’t pull someone from the same store into that promotion when they never worked for it but only got it because they were with the company long
