View ArticleCreating training Programs in the Library helps you as a coach plan ahead, and save time by re-using your programming.
Programs are not attached to any dates. In essence, you can think of Programs as templates to be re-used, copied, and edited for years to come. They'll live in your Library, and you can assign them to multiple Teams and athletes.
1. To create a Program from scratch, head to the Library.
2. Select 'Create New Program' in the upper right-hand corner to begin a new Program.
3. Give your Program a title.
We also suggest choosing a Program length. If you're not quite sure how long your Program will be, no sweat! Leave that field blank:
4. Begin building programming.
There's a couple important things to consider when creating a Program:
1. Always begin programming on Day 1, Week 1.
This ensures that when you assign the Program to a calendar and choose a start date, your athlete will see programming beginning on whatever start date you choose.
2. Make sure the Program is complete before you assign it to a calendar.
When you assign a Program to a Team or athlete calendar, you're essentially giving them a hard copy of what's in the Library at that point in time. The benefit of this is that if you assign a Program to an athlete, and that athlete requires modifications midway through their Program, you can edit their programming directly on their calendar and that will NOT effect the original copy in the Library.
Pro Tip: You can also copy your Programs. CLICK HERE to learn how.
Assign your Program to a Team or Athlete
Once you're ready, you can assign your Program to a Team from the Library.
To assign your Program to an athlete, open athlete's calendar:
Then select the 'Add From Library' icon in the upper-right hand corner.
This will open up a drawer on the right that syncs up with your Library. Search and select your Program, then choose a start date to drop the Program onto your athlete's calendar. You can also use this method to assign a Program to a Team, too!

View ArticleCreating and editing training sessions can be quick and easy, with lots of flexibility.
Check out this short video on how to program.
The Basics
First, decide where you'd like to create your training session. You can create a session directly on the Team or athlete's calendar or in the Library as a Program.
In this case, we will select a Team to create a training session on the team's calendar.
To create a new training session, simply hoverover the date you would like to add a session to and select + ADD.
This will bring you to the session designer. Select Add New Session.
Re-name your session and add any Session Notes to direct your athletes.
Select Add Block, to create the first block of your new session.
From here, use the search bar 'Select Exercise or Circuit' to find an exercise or circuit from your library. If you're unable to find the appropriate exercise or circuit, you can always create a New Exercise or New Circuit.
Selecting a Circuit from the library will automatically populate the Circuit Details, videos, and Leaderboard. If needed, you can edit the Circuit Details, add or remove videos, change the Leaderboard parameter, or use the toggle to remove the Leaderboard.
If you select an Exercise from the library you will then be prompted to Select Prescription or create a Custom (Table).
Select the Table or Notes icon to expand the Exercise Details.
From here, you can add Exercise Notes, add or remove videos, edit the prescriptions, and turn on the Leaderboard.
The three dot menu on the upper right will allow you to "Test" or Delete the block.
Note: Testing will effectively reset the athlete's working max, and that value will not change until the next testing day.
The drop down menu on the upper left will allow you to change the Block Category.
To create a Superset, hover between blocks and select the link icon.
You can rearrange exercises and supersets by selecting the arrows next to the blocks.
To delete a block, select the trashcan icon next to the block.
New Circuit
Select New Circuit. From here, you can enter your Circuit Details, prescribe the Results, add any relevant videos, and also save this circuit to your library by selecting Save Circuit to Library.
New Exercise
From a new block, Select Create Exercise to create and save an exercise to your Library. The Create Exercise drawer on the right will prompt you to title your exercise and set Default Parameters. You can also choose to include your own video by including a Youtube or Vimeo url.
Note: Youtube links will need to be "Public" or "Unlisted." All Vimeo links must be "Public."
Also in this drawer, you can Reference Max for when loads are prescribed in weight %. If you're planning to track your athlete's progress, use Track As to indicate which TrainHeroic exercise you would like to link this exercise to for the purpose of tracking numbers.
Finally, include Points of Performance with tips to best perform this exercise, and use Tags to apply filters and help narrow your search when sifting through the Library.
When building a session, you can hover over dates on the Calendar to view past sessions, for reference.
Your blocks and sessions will automatically save to your calendar as you work. To make the sessions public, select Publish Session at the top right menu.
In this menu, you can Publish your session, view aPreviewof the session, Save Session to Library to use for another day/team, or Delete your session by selecting the trashcan icon.

Here is how to quickly publish and un-publish workouts on your training calendar:
First, Login to yourcoach account and select a team.
Pro Tip: We recommend adjusting your team's Publish options so that your workouts automatically publish at a specific time each day, OR publish sessions in bulk. It also ensures that your athlete's receive one notification for the new programming versus a notification for each session that was individually published.
How to turn on Auto-Publish:
First, click Auto Publish icon on the upper right-hand corner.
Next, select "Yes" to enable auto-publishing and use the drop downs to set the day and time for each workout to be published.
Note that the time you choose will reflect Central Standard Time, so plan your Publish Time accordingly. Here's a link to help you easily convert from your timezone.
You'll notice that workouts withyellow highlighting at the topare not yet published, but are scheduled to be. We'll even show you when they're scheduled to publish.
How to publish sessions in bulk:
From the team's training calendar, you're able to quickly Publish ALL training sessions by clicking the green Publish button in the upper right hand corner. Clicking the green Publish button will publish everything that is showing on your calendar.
Note: Subsequent months' workouts will not publish unless you navigate to those months and click Publish too.
If you'd like to publish just a handful of session, but not all of your planned sessions you can easily do so by bulk-highlighting the sessions you'd like to publish and selecting "Publish" from the blue banner.
Publish Workouts Individually:
All workouts that say "Unpublished" at the topare not yet visible to athletes.
Select the 3 dot menu drop down in the upper right hand corner of the workout you would like to publish. Select Publish.
Note: Your athletes will receive 1 notification per each individually published session. If you plan to publish more than one session, consider publishing them in bulk or setting them to auto-publish so your athlete doesn't feel overloaded with notifications.
If a session has already been published, you'll notice the green published sign appear above the workout (and the big green Publish button in the upper right-hand corner will turn gray).

2. Check the box next to the name of the athlete (or athletes) that you would like to remove and click on the trash can icon on the upper right.
3. Confirm that you'd like to Archive the athletes
The removed athletes will now show up on the Archived athletes list in case there's ever anyone that you'd like to train at a later time.
Please note that you are not deleting that athlete's TrainHeroic account, but simply removing them from your Account. Once they are archived, they will no longer be able to see any programming or communication from your organization.
For specific questions on archiving athletes, please see our FAQ here.
If you have any questions about removing members of your team after reviewing this article, please contact the Performance Teamby emailing.

Can athletes delete exercises that they've added?
Yep. Athletes can hit the trashcan icon on the calendar view, or select delete exercise from the 3-dot menu in the logging view.
Can athletes delete exercises that I have programmed for them? No. This feature is meant to let athletes keep track of extras they might do and to let you know about them. Can athletes create new exercises and circuits? We do not provide that ability, but they'll have access to your exercise library + TrainHeroics library of 1500 exercises and circuits to choose from.
Can I delete exercises I programmed as a coach? This feature does not allow you to do this. Stay tuned.
Why do exercises need to be at the end? This feature is intended to let athletes keep track of little extras they might add, and let their coach knowthey'readding them. To help coaches review sessions they've programmed, we want to keep the session in its original order.

You'll be able to create Exercises on the fly while building a session, or ahead of time from the Library.
From the Session Designer:
After adding a block to a session, select the "New Exercise" option shown below.
From the Library:
Select Library from your left-hand navigation.
Then select "Exercises."
You'll notice a list of All Exercises, with an additional option to view My Exercises.
Your Library includes all TrainHeroic Exercises, along with any custom Exercises that you've added to your Library.
Note: The TrainHeroic Library is shared with all coaches, however your personal Exercises are private.
Select Create Exercise on theright-hand side of the page to create a custom Exercise.
Add Exercise Details:
Next, you'll add the Exercise details.
You'll be able to edit these anytime by simply selecting one of your Exercises from the Library, and saving your changes in the drawer pictured below.
Here's what you'll need to do:
1. Give your Exercise a unique name
2. Add a video, by pasting a YouTube or Vimeo link into the video field
Note: Youtube links will need to be "Public" or "Unlisted." All Vimeo links must be "Public."
3. Set Default Parameters
These Parameters will inform your prescriptions when you're building a session, so that you don't need to set these each time you add this Exercise.
With lifts, always set the Parameters to 'Reps,' then 'Weight.' This helps us to identify your Exercise as a lift, or an Exercise with a working max. This is especially important for using Analytics, or prescribing percentages of an athlete's working max.
With nonlifts, you're only required to set Parameter 1. We'd encourage you to choose a Parameter that you'll use for prescriptions and tracking purposes. For example, you may choose to set your first Parameter to 'Seconds' for 40 yard dash.
Note: With nonlifts, the 1st Parameter will serve as a prescription and will be the primary tracking metric.
4. OPTIONAL: Set 'Reference Max' and 'Track As.'
Note: Both options reference the TrainHeroic Library only.
'Reference Max' will inform the system which max to look at when you prescribe percentages. For example, if you want this lift to pull from the TrainHeroic Back Squat max, select Back Squat here.
'Track As' will combine history for an Exercise. In other words, data logged for the custom Exercise will influence the history, PRs, and working maxes of the TrainHeroic Exercise.
5. OPTIONAL: Add Tags
Tags categorize your exercises. These tags will be visible for you to select as a filter to narrow your search when adding an Exercise to a session.
6. Save

View ArticleCan athletes delete the sets that were prescribed?
No, they can only delete sets they add. If they do not do what was prescribed, they should leave the boxes blank.
Can I swap out anything I want to?
Right now, its limited to items that are exercises. This covers most strength training movements. Circuits are usually used for warmups and conditioning, andcan'tbe swapped at this time.
Can I prevent my athletes from changing exercises or adding sets? How will I know if they do?
We do not allow you to block your athletes from using any of these features. Most coaches we talk to agree that either itisn'tlikely to be a problem, that things like changing exercises happens anyway, and theyd rather know about it than pretend it doesnt happen.
To help you know when athletes are changing exercises, well label this by crossing out the original exercise, writing the new one in, and marking the exercise yellow.
If they add sets, well cross out the original prescription, write the new one in, and mark the exercise yellow.
View ArticleEach time you click "add block" you'll have the option to add an Exercise or Circuit from our Library, or create one from scratch.
Exercise and Circuits are setup differently, and will therefore yield different results.
Let's quickly review when and how to use an Exercise or a Circuit.
Exercises, like the Back Squat and Bench Press, allow a coach to prescribe every set, rep, and load, and athletes can track that data in their profile.
When you add an exercise to a training session, an athlete will record their specific progress and their progress is recorded in a journal entry.
If you program strength or accessory work for your athletes, adding an Exercise or supersetting Exercises is the best way to get that done.
Here is a quick video that will get you up to speed on how you can create Exercises as you build your training sessions.
You'll also have the option to add Circuits...
Circuits, like a warm-up or cool-down, allow you to simply type instructions and movements that you'd like the athlete to complete and do NOT require athletes to record every set and rep.
A Circuit is simply for "completion," like in the case of a Warmup:
If you'd like, you can still track 1 variable when programming a circuit.
For example, if you programmed a traditional CrossFit Metcon, like Fran, you'd want to record the total time it took to complete Fran.
Here is how you can quickly create Circuits in TrainHeroic to handle Warmups, Skills and Drill, MetCons, and more.
If you have any questions about how and when to use Exercises vs Circuits, just let us know.
You can email us at .

View ArticleTrainHeroic helps you to manage your athletes year-round. Even when your athletes are not in-season, or under your supervision, you can track their training progress and encourage them to train year-round. TrainHeroic's staff works with your program year-round, both in-season and in the off-season to ensure that your team is poised to make a championship run.
Each program, whether it is the Explosive Athlete Program or the Heroic Athlete program is coached by one of the coaches on TrainHeroic's Strength & Conditioning staff. Your coach will have a unique approach to the in-season and off-season phases of training.
Typically, athletes will train 4x per week in the off-season.
Your in-season approach will be very different than your off-season approach.
In-season strength and conditioning is something that we take very seriously as TrainHeroic. It's very interesting to see many programs bust their tails to build their athletes all year long, getting stronger, faster, and more explosive all off-season. But, for some odd reason, perhaps because of busy schedules, strength & conditioning is put on the back-burner all season long, and the end-result is a team of athletes that are slow, weak, and injury-prone when it matters most!
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to in-season training. Your season, schedule, and results will dictate how your team trains in-season. Here is an excellent article on in-season training written by a coach on our staff.
Realize that some athletes will actually be in-season almost all year long. Let's take Joey for example. Joey is a Freshman football player... in the fall. But, in the winter Joey wrestles, and he is also a sprinter on the track team. Joey should be training using an in-season program until the summer months, because he is perpetually in-season. It is in Joey's best interest, and will be most effective to his athletic development, if Joey sticks to one program year-round, and doesn't switch programs based on the coach of the team that Joey is in-season with at each point during the year. This is something that happens far too often in high school athletics and often leads to over-trained athletes and/or injuries. In general, athletes should train 2x/week while in-season. Each training program will give specific instructions for in-season athletes. Check out this week's Explosive Athlete Preview below to see what i'm talking about...

View ArticleYour athletes' maxes will update in real-time based on their training results UNLESS you've decided to test your athletes or manually update their working maxes.
Once a particular movement is "tested" or manually updated, TrainHeroic will NOT adjust that athlete's max for that movement again, unless the movement is re-tested or manually updated. Testing allows you as the coach to have more control over your percentage based programming within a cycle, and between testing days.
Note: If testing isn't part of your regular routine, and you'd prefer to have the athlete's working max automatically update as they train, you can bypass testing. We'll automatically update the athlete's working max as they train if the athlete has never been "tested." There are a few ways to update athlete's maxes:
1. Program a "Testing Session" to reset the athlete's working max and integrate testing directly into their programming. Below is a VIDEO on how to program a "Testing Session."
2. Use Spreadsheets to input baseline working maxes for your athletes, or test and retest the same group of athletes and benchmarks.
3. Manually adjust an athlete's max using the Athlete Management option from your coach account. 4. Athletes can also adjust their maxes on their own.
Note: Estimated 1RM are calculated directly from the NSCA load chart, based on the best effort of 15 reps or less.
If you have questions about testing, updating athletes' maxes, or anything else, please let us know. You can email us at [email protected].

You'll want to spend some time creating a logo and banner image for your Organization. This stuff is more important than people give credit for. Seriously coach, a professional image WILL DRIVE SALES.
To setup your Team or Program's Page:
Your Team or Program Marketplace page is where your athlete will learn about that specific programming, and where they'll sign-up.
1. Go to Teams and click the gear icon to open the Team's Settings. If you are setting up the Program's page, go to Library, select Programs, and click the gear icon next to the Program.
2. Give the team or program some personality and swagger with a Logo and Cover Image in the General Settings.
3. Select "Marketplace" from the Settings menu on the left and choose "Yes" when prompted if you want to sell access to this program in the Marketplace.
3. Add a winning Team Description and Sample Week to the Program or Team's page, so that athletes know what exactly they're signing up for.
A Winning Team Description answersthe following:
What isyour team all about?
Who specifically is your team for? And, who is it NOT for?
What goals are being targeted and what should athletes expect?
How long is the average training session?
What equipment is generally required?
Why is your community + team culture unique?
Check out this GOOD example of a description page. Notice how detailed NorCals description is.
4. Set your pricing. The annual price for subscription sold to coaches must be at least $30. Athletes must be at least $15. We recommend pricing your subscriptions at $2-5 per workout.
Note that Programs are a one-time purchase, and athletes (or coaches) will receive access to the Program for an entire year. Teams are purchased as a monthly/annual subscription. When a athlete (or coach) purchases a subscription, their membership will auto-renew each month/year, giving them access to the programming as long as they are an active (paying) member.
5. Set your Sample Week for the Team (Programs will automatically display Week 1 as the Sample Week).
Bonus: You can even include a video URL to SHOW what your programming is all about.
6. We will generate a uniquelink to your team/program in the Marketplace. Use this for marketing purposes, or if you wish to leave your program unlisted and want to give it to specific clients only.

View ArticleThink of the Marketplace as a virtual gym. There are tons of gyms out there- why should athletes join yours? Your job as a Marketplace Coach is to drive your own sales through your personal website or social media. The TrainHeroic Marketplace is NOT for everyone, but it can help grow your business if you put the work into it.
Setting up your Teams or Programs to Sell in the Marketplace doesn't mean you will automatically make sales. There are some amazing training programs on the internet, and thats not something that is exclusively found in TrainHeroics Marketplace.
If youcan'tdrive traffic to your website, or to your online content on your own, the TrainHeroic Marketplace is not for you. Theres no shame in that and perhaps its not never it just aint worth your time right now.
My suggestion to you BEFORE you spend any time programming is to come up with a marketing plan.
Be thoughtful.Be deliberate.Be persistent.Be awesome.
Do you speak at events, seminars, conferences, or have a loud microphone online?
How many social media followers do you have?
Do you have a YouTube channel, Twitter account, blog or website?
Do you train athletes that would be willing to help you market through their social channels? Perhaps you can tie them to what youre doing by giving them a slice of the pie...
These are the channels and methods you can leverage to drive potential customers. These are the channels where you need to SHOW value. Dont tell customers about how valuable your content is. SHOW THEM.
You need to show value every chance you have, whether thats on social media, live events, seminars, blogs, etc.
Were not making this stuff up. Weve seen it time and time again. Weve boiled down a recipe from our most successful coaches in the marketplace and we want to share it with you.
Here are 3 things that you can do right now.
These 3 things will drive potential customers to your most potent channels, whether they are live or online, and how to SHOW them WHY your content is valuable and WHAT they can expect with a membership to your team on TrainHeroic.
1. Create a personal/business website
An easy but expensive way to do this is to hire a contractor to build a site for you. If youre in a hurry and youre willing to fork over $500 - $5,000, then go ahead and take this route. But, thats not what I would do.
I would use a simple website builder like Squarespace. Squarespace is cheap, easy to learn, and you can get it done in about an hour.
Squarespace does a great job of walking you through setting up each page and you can customize virtually anything.
If youre intimidated by doing this, use a site like fiverr.com to hire someone to do this for you. You should be able to get a site built for $50-$100 on fiverr. Seriously.
2. Put Together a Plan
Remember, its all about your marketing, driving folks to your website, and only then will it start to matter what youre offering your athletes. If nobody shows up to the party, then who cares about the ice luge, red carpet, and top shelf liquor.
Here's a 1-week template for success:
SUNDAY-Tweet a promo code for the 1st 50 athletes that use code getjackedtoday
MONDAY-Post a motivational quote on Twitter and in your bio, have a link to your team. Always use the same hashtag and encourage your athletes to do the same so youre creating a community outside of TrainHeroic that drives traffic to your products inside TrainHeroic.
TUESDAY-Find somewhere to speak or some channel to drop knowledge bombs on folks. A podcast, a guest-blog, a local event, etc. Get your name out there and let folks know where they can find more of you your website!
WEDNESDAY-Post a promo-code to your teams feed like this: How are you guys feeling today? Let me know which questions you have about this next cycle and if you havent checked it out yet, what are you waiting for?! Need a training partner? Share this promo code to invite new members to the team and to gift them with 75% off their 1st month: trainwithme50
THURSDAY- Create and post an article on TrainHeroics blog or post on your own site.
Then, encourage others to share your article.
Post a link to your products in the Marketplace somewhere within the article so you can convert readers to revenue.
FRIDAY- Start a max-out Friday campaign and encourage athletes to post videos and images on Instagram, always using a specific hashtag to identify your brand and products in TrainHeroic.
SATURDAY-Reflect, and game plan for the following week.
3. Create value for athletes oncethey'reon-board
So an athlete signs up for your team, now what?
Athletes come for the program, but they stick around for the coaching. They stick around for you!
Be available.
Coach, I get that youre a busy person. Your time is valuable and you probably spend most of your time with the athletes in front of you. Treat your online athletes just the same.
This is what will have them stick around and will encourage them to have their friends join them, which means more money in your pocket.
Dusty Hyland (Games Athlete, Owner of DogTown CrossFit, and owner of Skill WOD on TrainHeroic) started implementing office hours to better connect with his athletes.
Dusty announces on social media that hell be available at a certain time on his TrainHeroic teams Feed.
Athletes show up, ask questions, and Dusty responds directly. Its pretty sweet.
To recap, here are the 3 key ingredients that the most successful coaches in TrainHeroics Marketplace use today to deliver value and grow their business online.
Create a personal/business website
Put together a plan

View ArticleWhat does Archive do?
Archive removes an athlete from all teams and cuts off their access to feeds. It also cuts off the coachs access to the athletes calendar and feed, and removes access to them from the coachs mobile app.
Archiving an athlete is a way for you to say I am totally done with coaching and reporting on this athlete, and Id like to remove them from the lists I use.
What does Remove From Teams do?
Remove From Teams removes the selected athlete(s) from any teams they are a member of. These athletes will be moved to Athletes not on a Team, and will still have an individual calendar and feed that you can access.
Can I still report on this athlete or see them in Analytics? No. You can only report on active athletes. If you add the athlete back to the group you want to report on, their data and calendar will again be accessible to you.
What if I archive someone by mistake?
Thats the nice thing about Archive instead of Delete - you can always undo the Archive action easily by going to the archived list.
Undo Archive: places athlete in Athletes Not on a Team
You can also add an archived athlete directly to a team by going to Actions > Account from the Archived list
What does the athlete experience when I archive them?
