Trinity Health – overall, it has been a great experience. It's not the job, my co-workers or even the manager that brings down the staff's moral. It's the compensation packages, pay and the added "busy" work that continues to get pushed to the nursing staff while they expect you out on time and no over time! Period! | Comparably

What do you like best about the leadership team?

Wonderful co-works, beautiful setting and work environment. TERRIBLE retirement benefits and compensation is in line with other non-union hospitals. Union would make compensation packages more competitive and raise the job satisfaction of the RN/MA staff

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

On average, a nurse with the same education and experience as mine that works at the University of Michigan hospital, earns almost $9.00 an hour more and has a retirement package that blows mine out of the water! In addition, their PT0 (personal time off) is also more generous. Why? Union.

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

We enjoy what we do. We enjoy and respect one another, we LOVE our patients. Our frustration comes from the work load, the inability for us to take consistent lunch breaks, or any break, for that matter, and all newly implemented tasks fall to the already busy nurses. We leave feeling overwhelmed.

What did you like most about the interview process?

The interview process was good. The problem comes once you are hired. The amount of time it takes HR to get you up and running (computer access, Pyxis access, etc) is RIDICULOUS!! It takes the hospital forever to fill a position and for the 1st couple of weeks you're working without needed access.

What are some of the best things about your team?

I am lucky to have an amazing manager that takes our concerns and complaints seriously and is always in our corner. However, being mid level management she can only do so much. We need more than 1 person fighting for us. She has little if no input on our benefit packages, but she does her best.

What makes you most happy at work?

My patients and my co-workers. I have always worked in the field of Oncology. It's not for everyone, but being able to touch the lives of my patients and their families means the world to me. Their trust in us is humbling and their bravery is admirable. I love what I do and am proud to do it.
