Q&A With Verisk Analytics Employees

Asked to all employees at Verisk Analytics

  • Top Employee Response

No clue. Never see or hear from him, with the exception of one town hall he decided to briefly make an appearance at, to kick off 2017.

  • CEO represents the company well to outsiders and Street analysts. But tends to be out of touch with what is going on at the operations level, and blind to people-skill problems of some senior leaders. He has his favorites too, which feeds into the lack of curiosity about management performance of his team and his team members' direct reports.

  • They probably have a false sense of positive thought about the CEO. The company is doing very well, but he isn't present unless you are top brass. During the five years I was employed by Verisk, I never personally interacted with him. But the company is the dominant player in the industry, so the opinion is generally good.

Very well balanced. I would feel comfortable stating Verisk has the best work:life balance I've ever experienced. I've been in the work force twenty+ years now.

  • Job demands can be significant as company runs a lean ship from headcount perspective. It helps if you're lucky to have a good, sensible manager who is attuned to associate workloads and time spent on work outside the office.

  • Very balanced. Probably the best balance I've ever experienced in 25 years of my corporate career.

  • Formal business attire.

  • The office atmosphere is on the loose-end of business casual. But for interview purposes, I would suggest business casual. Men don't need neck ties, women should dress business casual. The entire JC office has jeans and sneakers Friday's.

  • Depends on the position. If you are applying for a senior level position I would recommend a suit and tie. If its an entry level business casual is fine, this does not include jeans.

  • - Phone screen by HR (30 mins) - 2 separate in office interviews. One with potential boss and his boss (2 hours). Another to meet with various employees you would potentially be working with (each time was no more than 2 hours) - Received offer on 4th week * Not sure if that is the norm or not

Asked to the Marketing Department at Verisk Analytics

  • Siloed and often conflicted. Hidden agendas present. Lots of finger pointing and blame game is fertile.

  • I believe the digital departments of the existing Marketing team in Jersey City (as of January 2018) are very effective and efficient. The negative part of Marketing for the most part, are the various business units that utilize the digital Marketing departments, are very inefficient and uneducated when it comes to digital marketing best practices and ideology. Also, as the year of 2018 progresses, most of what previously came down the pipeline from intra-office depts in NJ, are increasingly not under their control. The company is beginning to fragment due to their successes and constant acquisitions. One of those great businesses, is in the process of merging their own marketing team completely with the Corporate HQ marketing team. This is clearly causing a once effective and efficient unit to become removed from the decision making process. I predict that the Utah marketing department will be the new Jersey City marketing department by the end of 2018. To be continued...

  • Speak to your strengths and experience. Focus on what you can bring to the job and organization.

  • Interviews vary widely throughout the organization in the Jersey City, NJ office (Corporate) depending on your career path. My experience is Digital Marketing. The head/s of the Marketing department in Jersey City, NJ is a straight shooter. No standard "what is your biggest strength/weakness" canned questions. You will be asked about yourself, what you did prior and what you can bring to the organization. That applies to Corp Marketing digital roles. Best approach, be prepared for questions about yourself and your skill-set more than the traditional canned questions. Also, comes dressed in a suit or slacks blazer. No neck tie needed. That applies to all employees.
