Some of my colleagues are very talented and great people to be around.

Demanding but manageable if you're organized and have good work habits.
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining Verisk Analytics?
That it helps to have a general background in the insurance business to get ahead. No prior experience in the industry pre-Verisk and it hurt later on.

None that I can think of that aren't already available at other organizations.
What's the office layout like at Verisk Analytics?
Open office plan. Think Google.
How much diversity is there among employees at Verisk Analytics?
Not enough, particularly on the gender side in positions of authority.
How's the morale at Verisk Analytics?
Mixed bag. Very poor in CS group due to senior leadership issues that have been ignored for years.
What's the Product team like at Verisk Analytics?
Some very good professionals. Other more recent additions to team are product of "who you know." Focus more on pleasing the boss by telling them what they want to know.
How's the leadership on the Product team at Verisk Analytics?
Mixed bag. Issue is more with members of Senior leadership who have no clue when it comes to product management and development. Have no experience and knowledge in discipline, but think and act like they do.
How would you describe your overall experience interviewing at Verisk Analytics?
Favorable. No surprises.
What skills do you need to be successful in the Product department at Verisk Analytics?
Excellent communications skills, especially writing. Effective at influence management, that is, getting things done when you have the responsibility but not the authority. Ability to work with multiple disciplines; foster teamwork and cooperation. Some understanding of insurance industry, but not critical. Quantitative skills/education helpful.

MBA, 5+ experience - some of it in P&C insurance

Colleagues were extremely helpful and wanted you to succeed.

Work from home is allowed under right circumstances. Arrangements typically negotiated between associate and manager.

Opportunities are certainly available. Value of intern experience is highly dependent on peer manager assigned to intern.
How does Verisk Analytics handle HR issues?
HR Group is challenged due to huge demands on associates and not enough staff. Also lacks leadership needed to address issues of import to associates. Emphasis instead is on making senior leadership happy.
How innovative is Verisk Analytics?
Not as innovative as its press would lead one to believe. By the time they master analytics approach to risk, other technologies will have passed them by, like AI (artificial intelligence)-based solutions. Execution continues to be a challenge as well. As Thomas Edison once said: “Vision without execution is hallucination.” Verisk could learn a lot from TE.

Revenue growth, customer satisfaction, added-value to core business
How do you feel about going to work at Verisk Analytics everyday?
Mixed feelings due to issues with certain senior leader(s) in ClaimSearch area who only have their personal interests in mind. Will make life difficult for any associate who questions decisions and doesn't do their best to make him look good.

Highly successful company in its niche markets so far. Workforce colleagues are top notch and genuinely good people.

How would you compare interviewing at Verisk Analytics to other places you've interviewed?
Nothing extraordinary. Same as every other publicly held corporation.
What questions do they ask during the interview process at Verisk Analytics?
Know about Google Analytics, Salesforce, Eloqua and anything related to digital marketing. Know the details of the role you're interviewing for and clarify if it's corporate marketing or product marketing. Corporate marketing functions well, product marketing is siloed and very us vs. them mentality.
