Work life balance used to be incheck but anymore it's a complete grind. Health benefits turn to high deductible health insurance insanely expensive. The unlimited vacation is nice but it's not stopping people from leaving.
Yes the pay is lowered
The misinformed information during the hiring process is we've been voted the BEST Company to work for with excellent benefits. But the company only has HDHP health plans that are extremely expensive.
There is no equity for anyone, other than the executive team, even those who are not good at their job.

Compensation should be based on merit and performance vs. higher percentage merit/salary adjustments going to folks lower on payscale who don't contribute to the same degree

Higher pay to make employees feel valuable
The HR and compensation process is driven by "calibration" team that has no idea what I am working on or how to evaluate what I do. Some titles do not have a market equivalent for comparable as tax, technology and market expertise is impossible to find in a single individual.
