Overall experience is positive based on leadership, values and culture. The leaders still struggle with getting diversity and inclusion right and it is very hard for black or female professionals to be successful here. That is starting to change though. Company performance is turbulent.
What makes you most happy at work?
People really care about your development.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
Leadership team is committed to values of the company and generally cares about things like welfare of employees, supporting US manufacturing jobs, the communities where we operate, and delivering good products to consumers. Also many of the leaders take time to personally develop others.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Culture really depends on the group that you work in. For example North America, sales, etc have a very good engaging culture. Engineering finance and others may be a bit more moring or less engaging. The overall culture for MI based jobs is positive though.
What would you improve about your company's interview process?
Our onboarding processes are awful and quite embarrassing for a company of this size. We use layers of external recruiters so it's often an inconsistent experience. Years ago we invested in week-long new hire training but that has all been cut and new employees are just thrown into roles.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Teams really depend on the area but it's a mix. Many teams are healthy and have a good work/life balance, try to be competitive and collaborative. It doesn't really have a burnout culture like consulting or a super high performing culture like some other companies, it's a bit more laid back.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
Compensation is fair. on the lower side compared to other companies but when you look at the ACTUAL cost of living in places like SW Michigan, Ohio, etc it is actually good. One watch out is the 20% bonus people are offered rarely happens as it's based on company performance so it may be 10% or less
