What's the interview process like at Zocdoc?
Top Employee Response
Fairly typical in tech.
As a developer I suggest preparing with "Cracking the Coding Interview". You start with 1-2 technical phone calls. Expect to answer algorithm and data structure questions. If you pass then you'll be invited to the office for a up to 4 interviews. 1-4 coding rounds (algo and data structures) 0-1 object oriented round (SSE+) 0-1 system design (SSE+) You will have time at the end of each interview to ask questions. Think of some you want answered in advance, preferably ones that show interest in working there.
For tech there’s usually some whiteboarding. Some teams do a take home assignment and ask questions based on it.

Slowly becoming a little more corporate but not by large steps. It’s a natural evolution as a company grows larger. They’re just starting to renovate.
We've grown over the years and have expanded in a building that wasn't equipped for a company our size. So the office physical space can be scrappy in places (though we're building it out so this should soon change). It is pretty friendly and open.

Most devs are in the office from 10-7. Some people get in earlier and others get in later. It's not common but some people work from home every now and then, there isn't a company policy about it and most people only do it when their out sick. No one does it for an extended amount of time.
How does Zocdoc make decisions around promotions?
It’s generally done on the basis of consensus in the tech organization. A manager makes a case for their employee and provides supporting detail on the reasoning for the promotion. As the promotion increases in seniority, a “jury of peers” approach is taken to determine a vote on advancement. Majority rules but can be overridden by a C-level decision.
What are you most excited about working at Zocdoc?
Top Employee Response
The business and operational side of healthcare is often not very patient friendly, and also tends to be behind other industries in technical innovations. We're one of the leading companies bringing new and patient focused innovations to clinical practices. Our stack has been scaled up and modernized, and our innovation cycle has greatly increased. I'm very excited that we have the infrastructure and culture to break down many barriers and make access to healthcare faster and more dependable.
