I tell people that I have a job at Awful House. It's that bad. Not only are you expected to practice their "ten steps of service" [read: 10 trips to every table], but servers must also wash their customers and the cooks' used dishes, mop the floors, clean the restrooms, etc, working for just tips.

There was only two managers, one day shift and one night shift, and often they doubled as line cooks themselves. That made for slim odds of being micromanaged.

Tips are low because it's rare to have a guest check exceed $30 for two people, and given that the amount of side work required is ridiculous, I feel that wait staff should be paid minimum wage plus tips for every hour they work in excess of 40. Many weeks we are coerced into overtime up to 60 hrs
