There's a reason it's so highly rated on review boards. My experience is that it is people-oriented. It builds employee loyalty and inspires excellence.
It's been great, for the reasons I described in previous answers in this survey. They really invest into their employees and demonstrate an interest in retaining us for the long-haul, as well as encouraging us to look at our Calix employment as a career, not just a "job for now."
Great 401k matching and Stock Purchase Plan
Discovering new things--whether in technology or relationships.
Solving problems to help customers move forward.
A high level of knowledge sharing.
Everyone is kind and willing to interact, answer questions, etc.
Working with a colleague on a mutual goal and being successful in it.
Everyone is not only willing to help their teammates be successful, but eager to do so.
The teamwork. Nobody says, "That's not my job." Instead, we work together to achieve common goals.
The goals of the company are stated very clearly, and they are worth pursuing. Everyone is aligned to them (hopefully!).
Calix pays for a lot of perks such as continuing education opportunities (e.g., Coursera, ExecOnline, Blinkist), as well as $100/mo ?
The little things that show they care about us as people... things like MasterClass, Coursera, Audible subscription, Blinkist, a generous wellness package, etc.
They really practice what they preach. They say the company is people-oriented, and they prove it in the way that they interact with employees at all levels.
They work hard to stay connected to the everyday goings-on within the company. They are not afraid to engage directly with any employee, no matter what position they hold.
They speak in a language that people understand... not in "executive speak" or using overly business-finance terminology like "we can do better on our KPIs," etc. They set vision and have a desire to inspire.
Their values are not just words on a wall at headquarters, but instead something that people talk about every day, and every decision is truly influenced by them. One of my values is servicing customers with respect. Calix lives up to that.
