
The compensation for my co-workers is far too low. The company expectations of each staff member is not appropriate based on their compensation. This makes my job very difficult. In addition, the company level of staffing allowance is way too light.

The people that I work with. The Pet Specialty industry managers have a very difficult job compared to traditions retail managers. Traditional retail management does not require the same broad range of skills. One must also be skilled in animal knowledge, nutrition, services, consumables, and more.
Like any company, there are goals that you have a respectable amount of control to be successful. There are also areas that you do not have control over. The compensation would be fair if the expectations of areas of control were achieved and appreciated. Not raising expectations adding stress.
The people that work for this company love pets and the people that also love pets. For the most part, they deal with the high expectations pretty well and understand the expectations placed on their supervisors. However, it is clear to them what their future would be like if they choose to advance.
