not too good but I think it's mostly because people are unsure of the stability of the company

  • Significantly better than it was at the beginning of the year. The new CEO has done a tremendous job re-engaging the workforce since joining the company. In addition, after a rough 2017 and difficult start to the current year, business has improved significantly, which always helps in lifting the morale. Still a lot of work to be done, specifically around HR, career pathing, internal promotion, etc., but after many years of what could charitably only be described as mediocre senior leadership, seems like the new CEO and his team is capable.

  • It is good except in grooming, they fight too much between themselves and there is always some drama going on in there.

Though the company claims to offer unlimited PTO, when people have requested to take more than two weeks at a time, even with advance notice, they have been told that they would have to take a leave of absence to be gone longer. Really a bogus benefit.

Asked to all employees at Petco

  • Depends a lot on the group you are in, and who your manager is. In some groups it is outstanding, where flexible hours and the ability to work remote is strongly supported. In others, where leadership is not very forward thinking, they still like to have "butts in the seats" at all times, and expect you to live around work rather than working to live. Some of the challenge ties simply to Retail, which as an industry is very much behind many others in embracing/acknowledging the benefits of work/life balance. Traditionally the IT systems at PETCO have also been poor to average, which in some cases has also negatively impacted work/life balance.

  • better after our manager was transferred to another department. she was a control freak.
