Most managers schedule workers five days a week although on occasion forty hours over six days. Closing one night and opening the next day is common. How unbalanced this is depends on individual circumstances. Obviously balance is almost impossible in retail when it comes to holidays.
Bad! They preach it but really don't want to hear about it or help. Their usual response is "you're in the retail world, figure it out". Even if store mgr WANTS to help corporate makes it impossible to take time off, leave early etc!
Work life balance is difficult to maintain. I live alone but even with a part time job on the side I manage it.
Weekends and nights are expected. Sears is only closed on Christmas day.
It's pretty good.
