Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation at Sears?
Top Employee Response
Doing the job of two people taking away hours no pay raise in five years! Pay more in health benefits unfair practices
1% avg commission and $6/hr for what was 4% and $4.50/hr a few years ago?! You do the math on a $5-10,000 week.
We should be compensated based on customer sadisfaction and quality of work, not sales. We are repair people not sales people.

Top Employee Response
Employees are always treated guilty until proven innocent. Poor techs that sell are praised and good techs with average sales are put down.
really understand the needs of the people in the trenches....they want great customer serviced but difficult to do with almost no associates
Their is too many market leaders and not enough staff. The company needs to focus more on their employees.

Top Employee Response
Too late for that. Wrong management at a lot of levels. Corporate run by people who have NEVER worked in a store, unrealistic goals.
Customer satisfaction 30 day return policy is not reasonable because the stores are not very convenient.
Let the employees work where they were working before they tried to change everything. Not everyone is good at multitasking

Interpersonal conflicts need to be confronted not swept under the table.
Have more time to talk outside the work zone. Get to know each other better.
More affirmation and less harping on credit applications and Shop Your Way rates would go a long way to improve working together.

How's the vacation policy at Sears?
Top Employee Response
Begin earning vac after 1 year based on hours worked. BUT actually USING vac time earned is another story!! Ridiculous amount of blacked out times! Not only ALL major holidays but anytime they have "events" planned. Its blacked out periods. This includes ANY promotion sales... so it's ALL the time! Then they allow only one week at a time. If planning major vacation (cruise, etc) you need permission from much higher up: store mgr's boss's boss!! Ridiculous ! You earn it but can't use it & when it gets close to vac hours expiring & you're trying to use ANY of it before losing those days...you are chastised for not using it earlier???? Can't win ????
4 flex per year plus accrued vacation based on length of service up to 4 weeks after 15 years

Bad
Substandard.
What part of Sears's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
Top Employee Response
I wouldn't say anything is growing fast. Lack of skilled work driven employees is the worst part. Not enough help leads to abusing work policies. Management overlooks things that employees should be written up or terminated for. One person can't control it, it has to come from SM.
The company is dying
All parts are dying....

Depends on where you work and what you do

Not looking good
Bankruptcy, it was bought for the real estate.
What do people at Sears think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
Top Employee Response
Stop cutting the commission or just make everything straight pay with bonuses for performance.
Not very many think the stores best interest is his goal. Most think that it is all about the money and not customer service. That is why we are struggling. Go back to the basics
He destroyed a great company to get rich in real estate. Failed at that too.
How's the work life balance at Sears?
Top Employee Response
Most managers schedule workers five days a week although on occasion forty hours over six days. Closing one night and opening the next day is common. How unbalanced this is depends on individual circumstances. Obviously balance is almost impossible in retail when it comes to holidays.
Weekends and nights are expected. Sears is only closed on Christmas day.
Work life balance is difficult to maintain. I live alone but even with a part time job on the side I manage it.
