    Wells Fargo is always promoting team members. The process is simple and effective. First we have quartely evaluations where the company ask us what are our aspirations for the near future with the Company. Once we express what we want to do, we have a path to follow, with online training to help us to achieve our goals. Wells Fargo post new positions online regulary. Our District Manager send emails informing us of the available positions open. Once we apply and if we are qualified to continue the application process ( The requirements are to be in the current position for at least 6 Month) Once you OK to continue with the process, a recruiter will contact us by phone to discuss the position. She also will answer questions we may have. She will instruct us for the face to face interview with the Manager at the Branch the position is available. We go to the interview, which is done by 2 Managers. They a series of questions waiting for detailed and specific answers.

    Promotions can occur in two ways. You can initiate a promotion by applying for any open position (assuming that you have been in your current role for greater than one year). In my experience, this is how the majority of people move up within the company. It is also possible that management will recognize your contribution and proactively seek new opportunities for you. However, in most cases, this second scenario will still require a job to be posted and other candidates may apply for it.

    In the mortgage end, there is very little opportunity for "promotion", in order to move up, you have to apply for an open position and hope you get the opportunity to interview for it. Very difficult to move up unless you have qualifications from outside Wells as there is almost always someone "more qualified".

    The interview process is very black and white and robotic. So if someone answer correctly they get it. But if they are a better fit for that team it is really difficult for a manager to be able to justify that hire.

    If you are a dedicated hard worker who takes pride in your work you will have no problem getting promoted.
