The leadership team in my building are trying to make things work but they are short sighted at times and listen to people's opinions as opposed to making their own observations and decisions.

Keep work load at a reasonable level

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

Accountability. They keep the slackers and push the hard workers into quitting

People management. Communication. Setting clear expectations.

Communication, drive, trustworthyness, competitivenesss, rewards

Treat everyone equal. Stop coddling lazy and incompetent associates. Hold everyone accountable and to the same standard. LISTEN to your associates.

Communication to the floor staff in manufacturing is vital. And there needs to be more money spent on actually fixing the machines. High turn over due to lack of training, no support, and bad performing machines that staff are blamed for when all the company does is bandage the problems.
