What do you like best about the leadership team?
I really valued the network of support I'd received as a Member and the opportunity for continued learning and growth throughout my time of service
The drive to help the community and their enrolment
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Pretty much everything. The whole system needs to be revamped.
AmeriCorps has this issue where management completely ignores the requests and concerns of Corps Members and Team Leaders. They don't know what it's like in the field and yet they think they know what's best for us. It's a joke.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
There aren't any Compensation reviews of AmeriCorps Alums yet.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
The compensation is an absolute joke, and their claim that it's to put you on the same level as the folks you serve so you "know what it's like" complete discounts all the folks who grew up in poverty and find the experience triggering.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Downside: we're all detail oriented. Upside: We're all detail oriented.
We all share the same passion on helping the community as well as the drive to get things done and completed in a timely manner
What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?
If the other employees would stop treating their stationed organizations like summer camps or dating services, maybe some impact work would actually happen.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Supportive environment, professional but warm.
The one benefit is that the people we work with in FEMA are great.
What needs to change to make the company culture better?

I enjoyed the opportunity to ask questions and 'feel out' the job
Applying was basically easy, just a lot of paperwork.

What makes you most happy at work?
Just knowing that I'm perfectly positioned to help kids in my local community learn to read.
